Any suggestions for either would be appreciated! I'm planning on returning to work soon and would like to cut down on nursing. I plan to nurse before bed & first thing in the morning. He takes bottles when I'm not around but only wants to nurse when he's with me. We've tried sippy cups and different bottles/nipples. I don't plan to pump at work so I'd like to start giving him formula during the day so that I'm not leaking/engorged in the office.
Our other issue is biting. He recently got his first tooth and thinks it's fun to bite mommy. Ouch will probably be his first word! When he bites I take him off and we play/offer solids/offer bottle depending. Because of his dislike for bottles this isn't working well. If he doesn't stop biting I'll wean completely but I'd rather not until he's a year. I'd love any suggestions from you ladies. TIA!
Re: Weaning & Biting
biting hurts, the best way to deal with it is just to stop nursing. When He bites break his latch by pushing your finger between his gums to release the pressure and remove your breast, or push your breast deep into his mouth.. this will cause him to unlatch. Say something like "biting hurts, nursing all done" be sure to pay attention to when he doesn't bite and tell him "thank you for being nice" it may take a few tries but just put him down when he bites, of he is upset hold him gently and say "be kind" if he still wants to nurse let him don't be afraid just be alert I would watch closely and get my daughter off before she bit me!
