Where to look for PT Nanny?

Hi,

I need a part-time nanny come September and I am not having much luck so far. I am advertising on sitter city, care.com and DC urban mom's message boards in addition to craigslist (which I was very hesitant to do).  I only have had 2 - 3 solid responses so far.

Any advice where else to look or advertise?

Re: Where to look for PT Nanny?

  • I was looking for someone one day per week, and I got a couple of helpful responses from my neighborhood's parents e-mail list. I also got some good responses on SitterCity (at least enough that I had three that I wanted to interview from there). One of those seems to have worked out for me, but if she hadn't, my next step was going to be to take my ad down for a couple of weeks and post again in a couple of weeks. I was thinking that a lot of people are probably on vacation this time of year. Also, local college or grad students may be good part-time nanny candidates, and they might start focusing on their job searches closer to heading back to campus in a few weeks.
