Stash Brag Thursday!

So, I have been curious as to who out there has the biggest stash!  Then I saw a post on the June board about stash, and I was very impressed by some of the numbers.  We had a couple with over a thousand!

Finally, that led me here.  I thought it would be fun to see how much some of the "professionals" over here have.  Unfortunately, your only prize is a pat on the back lol.  Wink

So what's your number???

Re: Stash Brag Thursday!

  • I'm only at about 300.  Considering I started 5 weeks ago, I don't think that's too bad.

  • I think I had 700 oz at one point. I'm down to about 500 oz, but I'm almost finished with pumping at work and I'll be giving LO thawed milk in his bottles until I run out.

  • I had a little over 1300 oz at 6 months when I quit EPing (that was the limit of my freezer and my goal). Now we're working our way through it while easing into formula and everything is going great.

  • Wow, I'm impressed.  I think I only have 300.

How do you store all the BM?  Do you have an extra freezer?

  • down to 7 bags = 28oz LOL - not much to brag about! I've hit a 9 month slump - wish I had been an overproducer early on. Oh well!

Right now, I store it in the Medela bags in shoebox sized containers.  When I run out of Medela, I'm switching to Lasinoh bags and using the gift bag method.

  • I have 800+ and just bought a deep freeze to store it all. I'm excited to finally get it organized!

  • DD is just a month, so I've only been pumping this past week, but I'll play just to make you 'small stash' ladies feel better- I have 24oz. that I'm quite proud of. I've spilled twice (an oz or so each time), it was very sad, and I've learned not to multitask.

  • Gen - Wowsers! (And HI! I remember talking to you a couple of years back over on the TTC board!)

I felt like AWing as well. I have 2287 ounces, vacuum sealed in my deep freeze. I had more, but I donated 135 ounces for cancer research. (I have a friend who is a chemist, and works for a company that extracts a cancer marker from breastmilk.) I also gave 35 ounces to a friend who was really ill in the hospital for her newborn.

Hey crysmike! I remember you too! I donated to a friend also on SAIF when she needed to have surgery. I liked being able to help out. How are you?

  • I have about 200. I've had more, but went through a lot when DS had his 6 mo growth spurt early and we hadn't started on solids yet.

I think there is such thing as having too much, because you'll have to rotate through it more (instead of using fresh) in order to ensure that it doesn't go bad. So personally I think 1000 oz is a bit much, then again if you have a deep freeze (we do not) it is not as big of a deal.

We bought a deep freezer for the milk. And we donate the oldest milk. Not a big deal at all.
