Weaning from bf @ naptime

I usually bf Z before naptime and then rock him to sleep. He never falls asleep while eating but it seems to be a vital part of the routine. Does anyone have suggestions for eliminating this feeding? He freaks I I try to give him a bottle or go straight to rocking. Thanks...

    Do you normally feed him in his room?  If so, maybe you could start by feeding him elsewhere in the house when it is close to nap time.  He might be too distracted to nurse much but that might be a good thing because maybe he will loose interest in that feeding and wait until after his nap.  This way it is still part of the routine but not as comforting, maybe... Also, after you nurse him elsewhere it would be helpful (if possible) for a few days to have someone else bring him up to his room and lay him down.

    Eventually, you can stop offering before that nap and nurse him right when he wakes up.
