What's the going rate that you guys are paying/finding in the DC area?

    It depends on whether your paying an adult or a middle/high school student.

    I pay between $8-$12 depending on who I have sitting.  My middle school student charges $8/hour where as the college graduate I've had sit before charges $12/hr.  I pay my high school aged sitter $10/hr because she drives over and it's one less thing I have to worry about.

    I generally pay $15/hr for 3 kids for a college age or older sitter.  For a high school kid I would pay a bit less, $10-15/hr.

    our sitter is on staff at our daycare and i think she graduated high school just last year. we pay her $10/hr.

    OK, ladies, $10 an hour it is. 1 kid (3 months), HS senior, has her own car, flexible availability. Sounds good to me.

    Oh, and I leave money for food + a fully stocked fridge when we go out. Party!!!
