what color for boys' sports bedroom?

Next month I will officially have 3 boys & 1 girl...yikes!!  Anyway, our plan is that by November the 3 boys will share a room together (as long as the baby is sleeping well, if not then he will move in at a later date) and we are going to do a sports theme (soccer, football & basketball) so there will be no fighting over superheroes or anything of that nature.   I am having a hard time deciding what color to paint the boys' room, any suggestions?

Re: what color for boys' sports bedroom?

  • What about a kind of All-Star theme which goes with all three? A bright blue, red, and white seems sporty to me.

  • I like a Navy background and then splashes of red, white and orange.  Your primary colors will work well.

Keep in mind that bright colors like red will illicit excitement so if your room is used to play in, that's great but if you want them to nap and sleep in there, you may want a more neutral color.

  • are you getting any kind of matching bedding? Lo's room is sports themed and we painted it a beige and blue but those were the colors of his bedding.

they have really cute decorative frames at Target of baseball, basketball, soccer, and football. they don't look babyish if you put "sports wall art in the search you can see them. good luck!

I think these are good choices and have some neutral colors to work with for paint and accessory colors

  • We painted DS's room a deep red. I don't remember the exact color off hand. We would have gone for a navy blue, but his furniture is blue, so that wouldn't work. I might paint a big star or something on one wall. I haven't decided yet.

  • Since sports bedding and decorations usually have a lot of red and blue, I think it may be a little much to do that on the walls too. I think khaki walls would look nice and that way almost anything would go with it. Maybe a red or navy accent wall.
