I just put our bouncy seat together and I am really not happy with it. It seems to be almost vertical. The fabric stretches around the frame so tight there is no scoop to the seat. I'm afraid that LO will slide right out of it, especially if the vibrator is turned on. There is a restraint system, but I don't want all of her weight to be supported by a strap between her legs so she doesn't slide out. Plus, when she is tiny and swaddled that won't work anyway. I got this at BRU a few months ago and I think I'm gonna be out of luck taking it back because I lost the receipt, it's past the 90 day return window anyway and they don't even sell it anymore.
I guess my question is, if anyone has put their bouncer together already is it really straight up and down, or is it laying flat more? Does anyone have one that has a feature that you can adjust the recline? I have a feeling that I am gonna be buying a new one here before LO arrives.
Re: Tell me about your bouncer
I really don't know because I haven't seen the one you have, but is it possible you put it together incorrectly? The FP one we have we've always kept assembled between babies. But I've seen the same one taken apart and put back together by a friend who did it wrong. He put the big U-shaped wire part upside down and the angle of the seat was really strange! Kinda how you describe it. just a thought.
If that's not it...yes, sometimes they do seem very upright at first. But a baby can break it in to where it's low and more comfortable. That could be all it takes to get it the way it's supposed to be.

Just return it to BRU, tell them it was a gift, and make sure you mention that it seems unsafe... they will give you a store credit at the least. It might not be for the full price, but it's better than nothin.
I had this one, but when I set it up it seemed lame and uncomfortable and more expensive than it's worth: Lame Bouncer
I started looking into them, and realized a swing was a better option, so I got this one instead: Cool Swing
DH put our Fisher Price one together incorrectly the first time since he felt he didn't need to read the directions
and it looked very similar to how you're describing with no scoop in the seat. After he switched the two curved pieces it was much better and it doesn't look like LO would fall out even without the restraint.
You can always take things back to Walmart without a receipt for store credit if you don't think you can return the bouncer to BRU.
I got the Bright Starts Comfort and Harmony, and it looks pretty much exactly like the picture- about a 45 degree angle with enough scoop for baby's butt.

We got the BabyBjorn Babysitter Balance. At first I thought ours was to vertical as well, but there is an adjustment latch under the seat so that it tilts more.
We haven't tried it out on any babies yet so I'm not sure how well we'll like it.
