We've been weaning off the nipple shield and it's going ok- sometimes she'll go on with nothing, sometimes I need to use the shield for a minute and then switch her off.
The big problem seems to be that no matter how she went on, after about 2 min, she starts fighting my boob, beating it up, pulling off and then desperately trying to get back on-- gasping and punching me the whole time-- after a couple of minutes she gets frustrated and angry and I have to put the shield back on.
I don't have a forceful letdown, and I know she's getting the milk ok- why is she doing this and how can I help her out? It's very frustrating to see her on with a perfect latch and everything suddenly goes to hell ![]()
Re: She's beating up my boob...
My DD has been doing this for almost a week and it is driving me crazy! I read a lot about it on kellymom.com this afternoon. Try reading this:

Plus someone posted a link to this youtube video a while back so I'm going to try that too.

So at the next feeding my plan is to take away the one bottle of expressed milk she gets each day...turn off the TV while feeding (distractions)...sit in a chair in the corner of the room so she won't get distracted by anyone...do breast compressions...hopefully some of this works for me
