I am a very white girl,,, classic american mix of everything. And my Husband is straight from Mexico. . His family are good looking, and so is mine. We feel so excited to find out who our baby girl is gonna look like.
How common is it with a mix like this that the baby comes out somewhere inbetween instead of more like one parent than the other? THis is our first sooooo, we dont have any idea what to expect...
Is anyone eles in the same boat?
Re: BI-RACIAL BABY, ANYONE ELES?
ME: Blonde hair, blue eyes, fair skin
HIM: Latino, black hair, brown eyes, dark skin.
We cant wait to see what our little birdie looks like!!!
House / Baby blog
I'm Vietnamese, DH is white. We're also excited to see what baby will look like.
I have family who married white. From what I've seen one baby looks asian, one baby looks mixed, and one baby looks white. There's no being able to guess what your child will look like when they're born, it's all genetics. One parent may be dominant in one trait while another parent is dominant in a different trait. It's just the luck of the draw.
ME: Black, fair-skinned (like actress Vanessa Williams), light brown eyes, curly sandy brown hair
HIM: Mexican, fair-skinned (lighter than me), dark brown eyes, curly sandy brown hair
DD: Fair-skinned (like me), light brown eyes, wavy curly sandy brown hair
DS#1: Fair-skinned (like me), dark brown eyes, curly light sandy brown hair (redish/blonde at birth)
Me: Pale, Blonde, Blue eyed
DH: Pale, Blodne, Blue eyed
There's not a lot of doubt about what our LO is going to look like.
BTW I used to work at a portrait studio and the cutest little boy I ever photographed was half black, 1/4 latino, 1/4 white. He had the cutest curliest hair and the most gorgous skin color with little freckles on his nose and bright green eyes. He's goign to be Stunning when he grows up.
We are the same way! I hope she has my eyes though, ones brown and ones green with some grey. And I hope she has my feet lol
Sounds like my parents. I ended up with dark brown hair and brown eyes. My sister has blonde hair and blue eyes. Neither of us looks Mexican.
I'm a mix of everything Caucasian and FI is mixed black (what every seems to think is actually Haitian, so I don't think African-American is the right term) and what his mother THINKS is Indian (she didn't know the guy very well and just said he looked Indian or Middle Eastern). FI gets a lot of "What are you mixed with?" questions and a few "Are you Indian?", so we're thinking he's just the Haitian/Indian mix. He definitely has some of his mother's features (mainly the eyes and nose), but I'm going to assume he just looks more like his father.
Since this is child number one for both of us, we have no idea how LO will turn out. In a couple of our 3D ultrasounds, I swear he looks EXACTLY like a baby version of FI. Same nose and lips, same fat little cheeks... It's amazing. We're both really excited to see how his skin ad hair will look. You know, whether or not LO's skin will be lighter like mine or dark like FI. Will his hair be more thick and curly or slightly more straight and light?
DH is Mexican, I am very white. DS came out with light brown hair, blue eyes and whiter skin than I! DS doesn't look Mexican either, it will be interesting to see how this LO turns out!
DH is 100% Mexican and I'm a caucasian mutt. However I am 1/4 Arabic and seemed to have gotten all of those features. Dark brown hair, dark brown eyes and somewhat olive skin. DH has black hair, dark brown eyes and nice tan skin so I'm pretty sure our LO will have brown hair and brown eyes. The skin tone could be anywhere from really white to really dark. We'll just have to wait and see!
People actually mistake me for being Mexican all the time.

DH is Italian, German, Lithuanian and Slovakian...if anything, I'd say he looks Italian.
I'm half Chinese and half Polish. I think I look mostly like my Mom (chinese) - hair & eye color, facial features- but am tall like my Dad.
We have always said, even before I got pregnant, that we can't wait to see what our child will look like!
DH is 1/4 Hawaiian,1/4 Korean,1/4 Chinese,1/4 mix of european. I am German Irish Scottish Native American.
From the ultrasounds so far she has my nose and facial structure, but as far as skin tone hard to tell. DH is very olive but his broth same mix as he is is paler than I am like his mother. But we have some cousins on his side who share a similar blend to what our children will have and we kind of have a rough idea.. Just have to wait and see.
I will see in my line the women have been short and curvy and the men taller for several generarations. DH has some massive shoulders and a big head.. not looking forward to passing any boys down the road.
Me -green eyes, brown hair, very very fair
Him -black hair, brown eyes, dark skin East Indian
Our children have inherited my hair, his eyes and skin tone. There are some features that are his and some that are mine in each of the kids.
Me: Vietnamese
DH: Filipino
DD: she has DH's head shape so in that sense she totally looks like him although some folks say she has my dad's eyes. In the first year her skin was fairer like mine's but as she's gotten older she's darkened a bit like DH. It's still a bit too soon to see if she takes on more of her viet. or flip side. I'm excited to see what happens too!
Me: White/ Native American- wavy strawberry blond (much more strawberry these days), blue eyes, fair skinned with freckles & short
DH: African American- medium to dark toned with chocolate brown eyes, very curly dark hair & very tall (6'4)
(see avatar)
We're anxious to see what our LO looks like as well. In my growth ultrasound at 30 weeks, she already had a full head of hair! Her facial features seem to strongly favor DH except for the shape of her eyes. I am curious if she will be tall like him, or short like me. DH's dad has Terrence Howard eyes, and I dream that she'll have green eyes, tight curly sandy brown or chestnut brown hair, and a cafe-au-lait skin tone.. we will see in about 2 weeks!
DH is white, just from southern alabama white
He has blue eyes, light freckles and sandy blonde/brown hair, which if he grows it out long it is wavy
Me- I'm filipino and black (also a small dose of white & native american cuz my great grandmas were) - I look 'typical' black, but have soft curly, curly, CURLY black hair which I keep straight 95% of the time and I'm a light, toasty color with brown eyes
Soooo we're pretty curious as to how our LO will look! I'm hoping for a nice creamy color mix of his white and my brown skin. Curly dark brown hair with light eyes??? A girl can wish! Either way he will be adorable and one mixed baby!!
Here's a photo of my family. I think our DS is a pretty even blend of us:
To be honest though, your kid can come out anywhere on the spectrum. I know a couple where the mom is white and the dad is black, and the first daughter is very obviously bi-racial, but the second one is white with blonde hair. Just depends on how the genes fall.
Me: From Costa Rica (Dad is Argentine), Drk Brwn eyes, Drk brown hair, bronze skin, and family has blonde hair trait.
DH: American-White, family origin is German, tans very nicely, glasses, light brown hair, hazel eyes.
DS1: Is basically me as a boy. Drk brwn hair, Dark brwn eyes, beautiful skin color. Does have DH's cheeks.
DS2: is a good mix of the grandfathers. Blonde hair, light brown eyes, DH's cheeks. Doesn't bronze, but tans VERY nicely.
So, yes we are mixed. The kids look like me when they are babies. DS2 is starting to look more like DH everyday (he looks JUST like my Dad when he was a little boy!). I think my side has more dominant traits.
Me: Filipino
DH: white/Polish
DS#1: mix-mix; he has my eyes and nose and DH's mouth and chin. He is darker than both of us. And he doesn't go tanning!
siggy hasn't been updated in a long time b/c the times I tried it failed, but LO has more of a Caucasian look to him now.
Me: Irish and German
DH: Brazilian
DS- 100% from my Irish side. Looks like my mother's son and not mine. He has blue eyes and blond hair. My Irish side completely dominates all of the children born to the family. We have very strong genes. Am curious if DS-2 will take on the same traits
Well DS's father is white, and im biracial myself.
Me: caramel skin, brown eyes, black hair
DS's father: PALE, blue eyes, brown/blonde hair
DS at birth was pale pale pale, now at 3: beige-ish skin, kinda asian looking, brown eyes, and dark chestnut brown hair
This baby is with my husband
Me: same as above
DH: tanned (still white though lol), blue eyes, medium brown hair
DD: very curious!!!
Me: American (a mix of Swedish, Irish, Dutch, Belgian)
DH: Chinese
We're also curious to see what the baby looks like. In the ultrasound, she seemed to have his nose and my mouth.
I'll have to check out the book by Donna Jackson Nakazawa.
I'm Hispanic (Mexican and Portuguese). Dark hair and dark eyes, medium olive skin.
DH is a WHITE boy, Norwegian. Blonde and green eyes, he burns when the weather hits above 65.
I was CERTAIN I was going to have a little Dora. How could I not? I obviously have the dominant genes. My daughter has white blonde hair STILL (she's almost 4) and bright blue eyes she also has porcelain skin. You really can't be certain with mixed babies until you see them!
Half Taiwanese & white baby on the way here!
I am in the reverse position. I am white, DH is Vietnamese. I'm assuming she will wind up with his dark hair. Everything else seems like a crap shoot!
A friend of mine adopted twins recently. The birth parents are white (mom) and hispanic (dad). One of the little girls is as white as can be, light hair, light skin. The other is Hispanic looking with dark hair and skin.
It's beautiful to see them together. Sisters, born at the same time, and yet SO different. This just goes to show that you have absolutely no idea what they will look like until they are here.
I am a total white girl very fair, burn easily, brown curly hair (almost 100% irish background), my DH is Chinese born there came when he was 4 years old.
Everyone guaranteed me that I would never have kids that look like me...totally wrong! My son looks a lot like me: rounder eyes, much fairer than DH, my same color hair- not asian hair-much softer with a little wave in it. His eyes are brown, and he gets color in the sun and definitely over time has started to look like my DH more: nose/facial features, but honestly his baby pics looked like those of all me and my sibs.
I am so excited to see what DS number 2 looks like. However his 3d u/s photo looks so dead on of one of DS #1's newborn pics that I think they will look surprisingly similar. The funny thing is that my DH and his brother don't look very much alike, and neither do any of his cousins kids who are all full Chinese so you really never know.
In fact the running joke with one of my good friends is that she always said she was jealous when DH and got married because she being Chinese always wanted a "half american" baby because all the dudes she knew growing up that were half were so Hot! She is Chinese and married a Filipino guy, but I was teasing her that when DS was born, I got "ripped off" (joking of course, because clearly I love my little man to pieces) because everyone had a Chinese/Asian baby but me. DS was born like the same week that another celebrity adopted either a Chinese or Korean little girl and was on People magazine. We have that kind of relationship where you can laugh about this kind of stuff.
baby #3 arrived in September 2014...cannot get ticker to work no matter what I try!
Make a pregnancy ticker
Me: blonde hair, blue eyes and whitest white you can get lol
BD: brown hair, brown eyes tall dark and handsome lol
I hope our lil one is a lil on the dark side just cause really who doesn't like a lil tan? but i hope he has light eyes.....lil black baby with blue eyes...OMG SO CUTE...well partially black baby lol
Seriously can't wait to see this handsome lil guy
