Isn't this a case of "everything in moderation"? I ate it every once in a while with DD, but I've mentioned wanting tuna to my DH, mom, and sister, and they all questioned whether or not I should be eating it. Makes me second guess myself.
Yep, it's supposed to be fine in moderation. There are a lot of seafoods you're supposed to avoid, but it's more along the lines of swordfish and high-mercury fish like that. I'm still eating tuna.

I've heard that tuna in a can is the one to use in moderation, because it could come from a wide variety of parts of tuna and some other mumbo jumbo. It can be the best or worst, but there's no way to really know because as long as it come from a "tuna fish" they can call it canned tuna. Plus, those tuna are usually in gross farms and have higher levels of mercury. But this is coming from a bubble girl!
It has something to do with the amount of muscle vs fat in the fish or something. If I remember correctly, muscle stores mercury longer so your larger, predatory fish will have a higher concentration that smaller, bony fish from the same body of water. But I did my research 10 years ago with a previous pregnancy, so I could have it mixed up.
I agree with PPs re: eating it in moderation. My doc says limit canned tuna to once per week, and try to eat the light tuna, which supposedly has lower levels of mercury than white tuna.
