Recommendations for Syracuse area Pediatricians

Hi all-

I'm due with my first baby in November and I am looking to get recommendations on pediatricians in the Syracuse area.  I don't really now where to start.

TIA!

Stacey

Re: Recommendations for Syracuse area Pediatricians

  • I started with the closest pedi to my home.  I also hate trying to find parking then walking a mile with sick kids (and usually sick self) to the office to see which ever dr had an opening, so a small office was also important to me.

We go to Wee Care in Cicero, it is on rte 31 not far from the high school.  It is small, we almost always see Dr. Picerno who I really like.  Her kids are just a little older than mine and she only works 3 days a week.  So I feel like she is more in touch with me.  I have never had a problem getting in within an hour or so when the kids have been sick.  We NEVER have to wait and rarely run into other kids there because they get you in and out so quick, we do hear them in other rooms, but I think this help prevent further spread of illness.  I don't always see eye to eye with them, but I think that is true of most drs on occassion.

  • I went to Family Practice Associates in Liverpool since I was a kid until we moved 5 years ago.  My oldest went there also and we loved it.

They have an office in Liverpool on the corner of Rt 31 and Rt 57.  They also have an office in Baldwinsville just off Rt 31.  I preferred the Baldwinsville office because it was smaller.

  • Thank you ladies!  I am definitely looking for a smaller office.  A lot of people recommend Summerwood Pediatrics, but that place is HUGE and there are always at least 10 people in the waiting room at a time.

I also go to Wee Care! Dr. Picerno is also my favorite. I got a really good vibe from her and my girls were born small at 37.5 weeks and she had a preemie so I felt pretty connected to her. I also agree, I've only been there 3 times but each time I didn't have to wait long at all.

I always request her.  She is only there Wed, Thurs and Fri though.  I try not to see Dr Terasaka anymore, ironically it is his practice and he was the only Dr when we started.  Now I think he has 2 NPs and 2 part time pedis.  Not that he did anything wrong, I just had a few times where I didn't think his advice was the best he could have given but instead a short, canned answer.

  • I had two people tell me they like Dr. Teresaka.  Maybe I will call there and see if I can set up a meeting!

  • I love pediatric associates in camillus/liverpool.  They are great for sick appointments or well.  There are seperate waiting rooms which was important to us.  good luck.
