1. Double BA in Political Science and English (Creative Writing Emphasis)
2. JD and a Certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution
Do you use your degree in your job now?
Yup. I'm an attorney and I am a civil litigator which means lots of writing and keeping up with the political climate. Too many Supreme Ct decisions just screwed up my area in the last few months, so who the president is and who gets on the bench has a real effect on my job.
I am hoping to transition into teaching, writing and mediating in about 5 years.
I have a BS in marine biology, a Master of Marine Affairs, and a JD. The masters and JD were a joint program, so I did them both at the same time, and I guess you could say that my JD had a focus on maritime/environmental law, because that's what every single one of my elective classes were in law school, though there was no "official" specialization or focus option.
Do you use your degree in your job now? I'm an environmental lawyer, so obviously I use my JD. Having the masters/joint degree thing undoubtedly helped me get this job, but it's extremely rare that I actually do any marine affairs work, so I don't really use it. Ditto having a science degree - it helped me get the job, and being relatively science-minded comes in handy when I'm reviewing engineering reports, etc., but I certainly don't use any marine science day-to-day.

Do you use your degree in your job now?
I think the good thing about a business degree/major is that it's very well rounded and you can usually apply the skills to any job/career/field you take on...so I'd definitely say I do!... But yes, I run the Operations for a very small Packaging company....which basically means I handle everything internally.... Book-keeping/Purchasing/Account Management/Customer Service/Invoicing and A/R... all that fun stuff. There's only literally a couple of us running things here, so I don't really have any backup. Can get a little overwhelming.
