sheet savers and bumper pads

do you guys use these?  We have the breathable bumper pads, but since LO can't even roll over yet, I don't think we need them  yet.

We have the sheet saver, and I just put it on because she spits up alot and I'm sick of washing sheets everyday, but it seems thick and worried about SIDS.

We used the sheet savers with DS and they saved my life. We never had a problem and we just made sure they were tied securely.

  • I have a waterproof mattress protector for the crib (is that the same as a sheet protector?) and it does seem to make the mattress soft and cushy and makes me worried as well... We haven't put her in the crib yet though.

  • I have never used sheet savers, but I put a couple of receiving blankets down in his crib, tucked securely around the edges.  I started doing this because DS would have diaper blow-outs/leaking all the time and changing the sheet was a huge PITA.  As for the bumpers, we have breathable ones, and I use them now and had been since DS was born.  Even though he hasn't rolled over yet, he moves around the crib all over the place.  It is more to keep his arms and legs inside the crib.

  • I use sheet savers, DD spits up a ton and I haven't really had to wash her sheets yet, just the sheet savers (but I have washed them just to clean them).  I make sure they are tied super tight.
  • As long as you tie them down, there's no SIDS risk. Same with the waterproof mattress cover. It's not the thickness of something that makes it a SIDS risk, it's the looseness of something that does.

This. We use the sheet saver and it is AMAZING! Like PP said, changing the sheet is a PITA and the sheet saver is the best thing ever! We also have a mattress cover, but with the sheet saver, I guess we really don't need it.
