What EF or essential items will I need for baby?

I wanna grab some stuff of vitacost.com and they've got free shipping over $50. Well problem is I don't know what to get! I know I want coconut oil and Dr. Bronners in a gallon. What else will I need for pregnancy, breastfeeding, cloth diapering, general health that I can get from there?

  • Are you interested in making your own EF detergents? There is a recipe for an amazing CD detergent on the EFF blog. Here: https://www.theecofriendlyfamily.com/2009/08/cloth-diaper-detergent.html

Also, VINEGAR. But I've never purchased that online.. actually.. nevermind that one. Likely to leak and stuff.. maybe? idk

  • I make both the cloth diaper and the clothing one, the only thing I really need is washing soda. I would do vinegar but we buy it in bulk at Costco!

    But thanks!!

  • Infant Tylenol, saline drops, pure lanolin ( if you plan on breastfeeding), Pacifiers, Bath soap for baby, Pure vitamin D for baby (if you breastfeed)
  • how does lanolin help with breastfeeding? i know you use it on wool products, but i've never heard of it outside of that realm.

It can be used to help protect your nipples.  You generally put it on sore nipples after BFing, and it is safe for baby (plus most of it is gone by the time you feed again) and protects you from cracking/chafing, etc.  I highly recommend having some on hand as a new mama.  Lansinoh sells some - and that brand is what I use (even for a lot of our wool).  Madela has it too, but I find that theirs is a bit thicker and not quite as easy to use - but it may be because I got that tube handed down to me.
