We have a breathable bumper on DDs crib and the plan was to buy another one for Junior's crib, too. Now I'm thinking that Junior won't really need it until s/he is rolling over, maybe December/January. I'm wondering if we couldn't just use the one on DDs crib instead of buying a new one but I don't know when we will be transitioning her to a toddler bed. I would think she would be alright w/o the bumper on her crib now that she's older (and she'll be about 21-22 months once we switch the bumper to Junior anyway). Thoughts?

Re: When did you stop using a crib bumper?
We still have the bumper in Evan's crib, but he doesn't need it... I just never thought to take it out. But he does sometimes sleep on his side w/ his back flush against the side of the crib, so it gives him some comfort, I guess... better than sleeping up against wood.
If I were you, I'd just take her bumper for baby #2 when you need it.

We used the breathable since we kept her swaddled for the first 6 months in the crib, it was probably over kill. By the time she was unswaddled, she could also get herself un-stuck. DD also was always long and skinny, so her legs never really got stuck anyway. And then add in the fact that I think using the sleep sack helps keep limps more contained helped too I'm sure.
I left it in until she was about 14 months bc I was hoping that it would keep the binkies in the crib. She used it as a bouncy anyway - she liked to stick her legs out and bounce on the bumper as she laid there and kicked. We got rid of the binkies around 13 months, and then around 14 months she puked all over her crib and bumper so I took it off to wash and just never put it back on.
This is us too. We a regular bumper with T. When she was younger she literally never moved in her sleep. She would stay on her back and never roll onto her side or belly until I think she was 10 months old and we started laying her on her belly to sleep to see if it helped her sleep better. She probably doesn't need it like NikCole said but she does sleep on her side with her back up against it alot, so I think it would be really uncomfortable for her not to have it.
