Yippee!! I leave for CA (San Diego, Santa Monica, then Santa Barbara) on Thursday after work...I'm super stoaked - it's my first trip to CA!
A whole 6 days I don't have to go into the stinkin' office!
I do need some additional book ideas since I have the long plane ride to and from (I'm WAY on the east coast!), 4 hour train ride from San Diego to Santa Monica, and hopefully lots of pool and beach lounging time...
So far I am bringing:
The Help (my book club book this month)
Jenny McCarthy's Belly Laughs (because some ladies recommended it here!)
Anything else that's "vacation worthy"?
Re: Babymoon coming up! Need Book Ideas!!
What kind of books do you like?
Just so you know, Baby Laughs is a super easy ready and you will probably FLY through it. I did. It was good. Jenny McCarthy also has a book called Baby Laughs. I just bought it but haven't read it yet because I'm in the middle of another book.
I generally like easy reads...I have read several Jennifer Weiner books a while back...is it Belly Laughs or Baby Laughs? Or she has a second book called Baby Laughs?
Too funny! My BIL lives in Santa Monica so thankfully, we have free accomodations for 7 out of the 9 nights we are there!
So addictive!! I second this recommendation!
vI've never met anyone who DIDN'T like the Hunger Games books. They are dystopian, and young adult. So while they are thought provoking, they aren't difficult reads.
For those that read HG and liked them, you should also read Divergent by Veronica Roth. Its another dystopian YA book that is fantastic.
OP-
Light reads- anything by Emily Giffin (Something Borrowed, etc), Sophie Kinsella (I love Can You Keep A Secret? the most), Cecilia Ahearn (just not PS I Love You- too dark for vacay...but her other stuff is neat), Jen Lancaster (all of hers are hysterical)
YA reads (which I love because while they are usually thought provoking they are easy reads)- Divergent by Veronica Roth, Delirium and Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver, If I Stay by Gayle Forman, Looking for Alaska by John Green
Historical Fiction- Outlander by Diana Gabaldon...LOVE this series. So romantic. I should probably name this baby after the main characters because these books got me in the mood so much
Sci-Fi- The Name of the Wind and The Wise Man's Fear by Patrick Rothfuss. So different than what I normally read....but O.M.G so good. So so good.
Hope this helps!
Yes, Water for Elephants is great!
I 5th the Hunger Games, they were excellent reads. I just read My Secret Daughter by S. Gowda, it was surprisingly good.
She has both, Belly Laughs and Baby Laughs.
I was also going to recommend Emily Giffin. (I couldn't remember if it was Giffin or Griffin and to be honest, I was too lazy to walk upstairs and look.) Something Borrowed and Something Blue by Emily Giffin are good, quick summer reads.
Have fun on vacation!
