Question for July "Team Greeners"...

Hi, all!

I'm having an August baby, but I'm also team green and I'm getting SOOO excited to find out the gender!  It seems like I can't wait any longer!  I've been doing my daily walks at the mall because it's so hot and it's SO HARD to see all the cute baby boy and girl clothes!

Anyway, enough whining... On to my ACTUAL questions.

1) Did you have a "hunch" as to what you were having?  (Mother's intuition!)  How sure were you and were you right?  (I'm 90% sure that I'm having a boy BUT...)

2) Did strangers and friends used to tell you what you were having?  Were the majority of them right?  (I've had strangers and store clerks come up to me and say "you're having a boy" pretty frequently.  I'm totally carrying all baby in the front, but I also have GD so my weight gain has only been about 20 pounds, so that could complicate things...)

I know that none of this is SURE, but I'm just wondering at this point... I'm getting so anxious!  Congrats to all of you who've had your babies and WELCOME to those who are "new" to Club August!  I saw a few of your posts today.  :)

Re: Question for July "Team Greeners"...

  • With my first I was team green and totally convinced I was having a girl... I had a boy. Everyone was also convinced I was having a girl too.

  • I was 95% I was having a boy and I was right.  No one really commented on what they thought.

  • I have a boy...

    1. I don't know if there was really a hunch. Early on I thought I was having a girl... then I thought, I'd better not get too attached to the idea of a girl so I started convincing myself it was a boy... then I just got all confused, lol. In the last few months I found myself consistently referring to LO as "he" though.

    2. Everybody said I was having a boy because my belly was sticking straight out.

  • I didn't really get comments from strangers and I think friends and family only based their guesses on what they hoped we were having so I didn't really pay attention to their guesses. DH and I both thought we were having a boy, I had the feeling LO was a boy pretty much from the day I found out I was pregnant. We were right Smile.
  • I wasn't team green but everyone told me the ultrasound was wrong and that we were really having a boy. From day 1 I thought LO was a boy as well and kept cringing when people bought us girl stuff. Yup, she was a girl and I was just crazy.

  • I was fairly certain I was having a girl and I did. I'd say that about half of my family/friends thought I was having a boy based on how I carried and half thought I was having a girl based on how I carried. Basically, it was a crap shoot. ;)

I know it's hard, but you will find out your baby's sex soon enough! That moment when they put him/her on your chest and announce "It's a boy!" or "It's a girl!" is the best moment ever. Enjoy it!

  • I thought from day one I would have a boy...so did everyone else I know. We were all wrong! Just dont have any expectations!!

  • I wasn't Team Green, but I knew from the beginning what I was having.  I've had two kids (girl/boy) and knew what they were well before any testing.  And I had one late miscarriage that I was also correct with the gender guess.  So that's three for three.  My mom was the same way (knew what she was having before birth for both kids).  Some women are like that.
  • I was like 90% sure he was a boy.  I had 2 dreams early in the pregnancy that LO was a boy, and after that I would waver once in a while but I was always pretty sure he was a he.

Strangers, family, friends ALL told me they thought it was a boy.  I had strangers come up to me in the store and tell me "Oh that's definitely a boy in there!"  I guess the whole thing about "carrying all in front" was true for me, because I did and he was a boy.

  • Everyone thought we were having a boy.  I don't think I had one single person guess a girl.  I really had no idea or "hunch".  We had a girl!  It was funny...when my OB told my husband to say what the sex was when she was born the way he said it cracked me up..."It's a girl?"  He was totally convinced it was a boy.

  • I thought my DD was going to be a boy.  But, I told myself that b/c I was so convinced the baby was a boy, that I knew she would be a girl.  (I really hope that makes sense!)

Almost everyone told me that it was going to be a boy, only a couple of people were sure that she was a girl.

  • For the majority of the pregnancy I thought boy and so did everyone else.  There were literally only 2 or 3 that thought girl.

It wasn't until I was in labor with a stalled induction when I realized I had a stubborn baby and it had to be a girl!  She is stubborn like her momma and big sister!

  • I really thought we were going to have another girl.  When Orrin made his appearance I saw him and it still didn't register till the doctor said, "it's a boy!"  I said "really, are you sure?" Lol.  Dh was so excited and it really took a couple weeks before it hit me and I was like, I really have a baby boy!  Sounds nuts, but I was just so sure.  With DD all of the old wives tales and gender predictors said boy, with DS they all said girl.  Family and friends were 50/50 so it was really up in the air.  I am so glad we were team green.  It was hard at times but totally worth the wait.

  • I was team green until week 28- MH still is and none of my family even knows I know! Anyhow I thought it was a girl since day 1. Most of the OWTs said girl, and people guessed 60/40 girl/boy. So now that I have BIG bump- total strangers tell me all the time that its a boy (ALL massive belly!). My mom thinks it's a boy- she keeps telling me LO didn't want to come early because he has an "extra part" to grow. Well I am officially overdue today- but everyone is in for a surprise- it has been confirmed (twice) that LO is a girl! I can't wait for them to get the surprise- and find out I've stock piling pink for months! GL!

  • I had a very slight feeling LO was a girl and was right. Everyone said I was having a boy because I carried her like a basketball, and the OWT is that girls spread out.

  • I was convinced I was having a boy, so was everyone else b/c of the OWT.  I carried all out front, nice and round.  I gained weight only in my belly.  I had strangers tell me that I shocked them when I turned to the side and they saw I was pregnant b/c I didn't look pregnant from the back.

And I had a girl!  The MW announced It's a girl!  And I replied, "What?!?"  Haha.  I REALLY thought she was a boy.  We even bought all boy clothes, toys, gear, etc. (just nothing that SAID boy on it just in case!).  So our little girl is wearing clothes with dinosaurs and puppies, haha.

    You really never know.

  • I was 95% sure at ~20 wks that I was having a boy.  Before that time I was certain it was a girl.  I would have been shocked if the OB told me it was a girl when the baby was delivered.  Most people guessed boy and only a few guessed girl in my case.  Good luck!  It was a wonderful surprise!
