When did you start workouts after pregnancy?

I am planning on exercising (30 day shredder part 1) a wk after delivery.  I feel good so far.  How long did you all wait before starting exercising again?

  • I did very light exercise beginning at two weeks pp. I began the 30ds at three months pp and it was very difficult ( not to mention the leaking from all areas). I would definitely take it easy immediately after delivery ad don't push yourself too much- for many ladies on here, some easy walking was enough right away. Labor and delivery is quite a marathon for your body, so don't push too hard too fast. Your fitness lvl before pregnancy and your doctors will help you decide when to start strenuous exercises pp. Good luck!

  • I started light exercise at home immediately...abdominal contraction with heel slides, stretching and walking, then progressed distance and intensity as I felt like it over the next few weeks and then waited for Dr. OK to start running at 5 weeks post partum. Listen to your body and you will be ok...although sounds like you might be doing too much too soon.
  • I began walking immediately!  Kept that up until I got the ok from my Dr at 6 weeks then started ChaLEAN Extreme (similar to P90X).  I wouldn't recommend you start any type of training, or strenuous weights, until you get the ok from your Dr.

    I started doing light exercise like walking a week after we got home.   I was back to 30DS the day of my six week appt.   I started at level 1 and gradually worked my way back up,   Now at just over 3 months I'm rocking level 4 on her new video Ripped in 30.  Every once in a while I will feel some reminders that I did just give birth (like when there's a lot of jumping).  I feel like you'll be surprised what you can do if you push yourself.

    sounds u've done a great job.

  • 2 wks. pp I was walking/jogging 4 miles a day.  By 4 wks I was fully running again.

  • I started walking about a month after my C-section. I didn't start working out until 2 months after DS was born.

  • I started walking right away and running one week after. I ran a full marathon 2 months after my (easy, vaginal) delivery.

  • I started doing several 30 min. walks a week at 2 weeks pp and started back at the gym at 6 weeks pp after I was cleared by my midwife.

  • I started walking the very next day, step class, and spin classes at one week pp, and running and weights at 2 wseeks pp
