March 2012 Moms

Fellow cat owners I have a question.

Are your cats driving you up the wall too?

My female cat who is generally very aloof will not leave me alone! She follows me everywhere, is always in my lap, she even follows me to the bathroom and meows at me if I lock her out. I love her but my goodness she is smothering me lol.

Re: Fellow cat owners I have a question.

  • Yup. The one allowed in the bedroom keeps sleeping right up against my tummy instead of down by my feet like she normally does. Driving me nuts. And following me around the house.

  • My little boy is being extremely needy and affectionate.  My little girl is still acting fairly normal and only wants attention on her terms.  I think my boy is a lot more sensitive about things though.  I can't wait to see how they will be once the baby comes.

  • I have 3 boys and nothing has changed much. I fully expected them to be way more affectionate and all over me, but they haven't. They seem very much themselves as usual. I wonder if it will change.

    Mine does the same...

I just let her do it :-)

  • One of mine who I felt was clingy to begin with, is worse! She cries wicked bad when I come home too, like I had left her forever.

My siamese is skiddish and will only be pet on her terms, etc, so I haven't noticed a difference in her... but she loves what will be the baby's room, so I'm very interested in how she will be when that time comes!

  • Mine are normally very affectionate. My boy started waking me up all night long to cuddle, and I had to start squirting him with water. I hate doing it, but I'm already up 5 times a night to pee.

  • I have two girls. The orange tabby is affectionate but also gets spooked quickly, that hadn't really changed. My gray little girl, well she's being super affectionate with both DH and I. She was always nice but now she lays down on us for a long time just purring. That's definitely new but we don't mind. :0)

  • My boy is the same way. Never sleeps unless he is touching me, and never leaves me alone. It's crazy. I love it except when I wake up from a good sleep because I'm breathing in fur!

  • One of my first clues that I was pregnant before my BFP was that our cat was being SUPER affectionate and always wanted to be sitting by me or nuzzling me. She hasn't been driving me too crazy lately, but she definitely makes more of an effort to be around me now and is more vocal when she wants attention. Our dog on the other hand seems clueless that anything is going on...

  • My female cat gets super-affectionate towards me with every pregnancy. My male cats (there are 2) sleep next to my tummy, which is cute... but annoying to have to move a 17 lb cat whenever I need to get up to check on DS or pee.

  • My oldest boy cat (lovey) was usually very sweet/affectionate and napped with me and kneaded on DH and I at night when we let him in. He won't let me come near him. The middle cat, girl (Star) was very distant, did her own thing. She snuggles me and is always at my feet. When i was on vaca last week I took a pic of her laying beside me in my recliner with her paws protecting my tummy :). The baby (generally "my" baby, Jack) has been pretty much the same.

  • Our little girl hasn't changed much. She has always been very social and she likes to sleep with me. She has always liked to sleep on my chest/belly....but now I have to kick her off cause it just makes me feel more sick....so she has had to find a new cuddle spot.

  • I have 7 year old sister kitties and they have completely different personalities now that I am pregnant.  they will not leave me alone.  Our tiger has always meowed a little bit but her sister never meows... until now.  She wakes me up every morning around 5 meowing at me from the side of the bed.  Love them to death but they are really starting to grind my gears!

  • Wow this is weird to me. My cat hasn't changed a bit. My beast however won't leave my side.

  • We have 3 cats, 1 boy and 2 girls. The boy is really weird, he isn't super affectionate with me (never has been), but as usual he still loves my DH. But for a couple weeks if I so much as moved my leg while he was sitting on the couch with us he would jump up, claws out, like a ghost was chasing him. Which he has never done that before. And last week, he jumped on my lap and I went to pet him and he clawed the crap out of my leg and boob. Needless to say, I was a bit mad at him. But since that incident he has been less skiddish. Weird I tell you. Now the female cats are more attentive. Just this evening my oldest (hey they were my babies first) jumped on the bed and started walking all over me wanting to lick my hands (she has always done that and I hate it) and she never jumps on the bed with us. Crazy cats. Anytime a baby cries on tv though, they all freak out. I'm interested to see how they react when little one is here.
