Has anyone block fed their LO for an extended period of time? I started block feeding my son at six weeks because of over-supply. He's almost seven months old now and I still block feed. He gets one side per feeding and seems satisfied.
I also block pump at work. I pump 3x but I only pump one side each time. I get anywhere from 3-6 ounces at each session so I have enough to make his three 4.5-5 ounce bottles for daycare the next day.
It is annoying to always be lopsided and if he feeds late then one side gets pretty uncomfortable. But I guess at this point I'm not sure how to transition to feeding on both sides. My milk supply seems pretty established and I think my body is used to block feeding. I don't have any supply issues.
I guess I just wanted to see if anyone else has block fed for a long time and if they transitioned at some point back to regular two-sided feedings? Or should I just keep going as is?
Thanks!
Re: Extended block feeding
Block feeding doesn't mean feeding one side. It means feeding the same side for multiple feedings for several hours.
I only feed one side per session. It's all he wants. I do pump both sides if I pump, as it's faster. No problems at all going from one sided nursing to two sided pumping and back.
