Estrace needed .. what does it mean?

This Saturday will be a week since my ET. I am 40 (not even sure if this matters) but I just got a cal that my estrogen was 59 - they want 100 and my progesterone was 16 - they are fine with it since they want at least 16. They want me to go on Estrace tablets tonight. What can this possibly mean? The nurse said it is not age specific.

    I believe when you hava egg retrieval your estrogen levels can drop. If the drop to low your RE may want you on Estrace to increase the level, as good levels of estrogen and progesterone are need to sustain a pregnancy.

    I had the estradiol patch for one of my IUI for the same reason.

    I am in the middle of my 5th IVF and have always been prescribed estrace starting the day of my ER. (and once prior to even having my ER due to lining issues).  I'm almost 39 but did my first IVF at 35-- I think it is completely standard at my clinic.

    Once your eggs are removed, your body stops making E2 and p4 on its own for a bit so it is very normal to have E2 and either PIO or Edometrium as a part of a protocal.
