Anyone BF & on Lexapro/Celexa?

Due to panic disorder I am on Lexapro 10 MG and have been for several years. Was on it throughout PG with LO #1 and did not BF out of fear of the unknown side effects. So DS was 100% formula fed.

With this PG I am still on the Med & considering BF'ing.

I have tried to ween off of it a few times over the years but it just is not an option for me.

I consulted with a Perinatologist about BF'ing while on Lexapro and he said 100% no problem.

Is there anyone on here that is on this med and BF'ing? Thoughts?

Lexapro isn't specifically on here (there is a 2010 edition of Thomas Hale's book, and this summarizes the 2004 edition). Celexa would be the closest.

I take a med that's VERY similar to Lexapro (Insurance wouldn't pay for lexapro without trying something else first). Anyways, the only side effect we've had with A is that it made his reflux worse. So we started him on Zantac.

Before getting pregnant I was on Lexapro and didn't care for it so I switched to Welbutrin. I stopped taking it while pregnant and my OB said I could not take either while breastfeeding either. I am sure your Dr knows best so if he/she is ok with it I'd do it. Good luck.

I was on Lexapro with DS and BF him while on it and I am on Celexa now and only BF DD for two weeks, but I had no issues.

I went back on Lexapro in the hospital after going off for the 3rd trimester. So far no problems at all, my doctor encouraged me to go back on them asap so I didn't get depressed. (I had ppd with my ds 1). My daughter is nursing great and is sleeping well and a happy girl!
