3rd Trimester

If you could choose ONE thing to know abt. your delivery, what would it be?

What do you think you'd like to know? Some options to choose from:

-How big the baby will be

-How long delivery will last for you/How hard it will be

-Whether it's a boy or a girl

-The date that your LO will be born so you don't have to guess as to when it'll happen

-Any other fun choices?

  • Will my VBAC be successful?

baby #3 arrived in September 2014...cannot get ticker to work no matter what I try!

  • For sure it would be how long will my labor last!  I can handle anything as long as I know how long I will be required to do it.  :)
  • How much it will hurt, definitely. This is my first baby so all I have to go off of are other people's experiences which are mostly either horror stories or "piece of cake" stories.

Also, how will DH handle being in the delivery room? Will he be helpful or will I want to smack him? :)

  • Will my husband get to be there? I don't care when it happens (this kid can be two weeks late for all care!) I just want my husband. We are working with his chain of command to see if he will be able to come home early. It's possible, but not probable.
  • I'd want to know when it will be. Late, early I just want to know so that I can be prepared.

  • How long delivery will last for you/How hard it will be!!
  • I'd want to know when it's going to be.  I don't want to schedule it or anything, just the foresight to know when to expect it :)

  • That I will be ok and not get any blood clots that will put my life in danger again. I am very nervous about this since I had a pretty bad scare last time.

In my bag: Nikon D90; 35mm 1.8, 90mm 2.8 macro (my fave), Lensbaby Composer with macro extensions. BFP after 13 cycles and one ectopic. Lost left tube 5/19/10.
  • This is a great question!!

For me, it is a toss up between how long/how hard and how big she will be.  My MIL was in labor for something to the tune of 26+ hours, and my DH was 10 lb 3 oz!  My sister and I were both c-sections, so my mom never had labor with us.  So, either of those would be great to know.

Another I would like to know is whether or not I will have to be induced or if my water was going to break or if I will just be in labor and they would break my water?

  • I wanna know it all! LOL But I suppose if I had to decide, I'd like to know how long labor/delivery will take and for sure whether it will be a vaginal delivery or will end up in a c section.

  • Definitely the date!
  • Most definitely when he will be born.  Even if I could just know a date RANGE, I'd be happy!!  I hate not being able to plan!

  • Well, I know the date ( scheduled c section)... otherwise that would be my choice!

    Now, I'll choose...

How will my body respond to spinal block and pain meds. I have had issues with drugs before... and I seriously don't want to be goofy, sick, or out of it. I just want to see my baby, sans meds... oh well.

  • Actually - I'd like to know if my damn placenta is going to get out of the way or not. If I'm going to have to have a c-section, I'd rather know about it now so I can prepare myself rather than just sitting and waiting for each new ultrasound.

I would want to know how long my labor process would be - kind of.  I do better with an end point (only 6 more hours, only 2 more hours...) but at the beginning, that would be really hard to swallow (26 more hours???).

I think my safe one would be I want to know what doctor is going to be oncall to deliver me that day!  I hope it's not the one who called me "boring" Tongue Tied

  • Id go for due date. I'm a planner and knowing when the finish line is will help me deal with this pain sooooo much better

  • Will the baby be healthy and free of anything that will send them to the NICU.

  • At this point I would definitely go with how big she is, I had my last growth scan just prior to 39wks, which we all know are notorious for being inaccurate. Now that I'm overdue and not being induce until Tues. I have a feeling she's going to be 47lbs or so. (at least that's how it feels being overcooked >=[ )

  • I have a 4 year old, so i would like to know a day/time i will go into labor so I can have plans set for him.  Right now I have about 10 different plans depending on what day/what time/family schedules.  It is making me anxious

  • Probably the date. I had a very easy delivery the first time. Chances are this will be the same and baby is expected to be a peanut like DS (6lbs 13oz).

  • knowing the date would be good but for just one thing I think I would rather know how the delivery will go - Im scared for it
  • I would want to know the date so that I am able to pick a last day at work. I went to be able to spend the whole of my 6 weeks maternity leave with my baby.

  • I would looove to know the exact date. I'm a planner and that information would get rid of so much of my anxiety. I'd also be able to make sure my fiance isn't unreachable and out of town! Next choice would be exactly how long labor would last, I think I'm most freaked out about the possibility of having an "unending" labor and knowing it's probably shorter than I'm expecting would also get rid of a lot of worry.

  • Rather than the date she is born, i would want to know the date that i go into labor. With DS, i went into labor one day, but he wasnt born until the next day

-How big the baby will be  ((I already know approx wt))

-How long delivery will last for you/How hard it will be  ((long enough for them to numb and slice))

-Whether it's a boy or a girl  ((already know she is definitely a girl))

-The date that your LO will be born so you don't have to guess as to when it'll happen  ((hmm--c-sect, so i can pick and choose this))

    -Any other fun choices?  ((nope))

  • If I could know when we were going to go into L&D (whether it be for induction c-section or natural labor) and the date we were to leave the hospital.

My DD and this LO have the same due date but DD was 7 days late, and my b-day is 2 days after my due date..so I would just like to know so DDs b-day plans don't get messed up (planned for 3 weeks after due date)

  • I definitely want to know what date/time. I'm getting antsy here.
