Re: Work & doc appts

  • I have scheduled all my doctor appts. out from now until delivery (and one that would take me past delivery..just in case!).  I scheduled for either first one of the morning, or latest in the day.  I am a teacher, and so I was trying to not to overlap work much, and avoid using sick days for these appts.  She was good about letting me be a few minutes late, or leaving a few minutes early to make it to them.  There are lots of women in my building who have had kids in the past few years, including the principal, so she has been great about it.  I would just ignore your co-worker.  Its none of her business!

  • No. I dont even ask- i just scheduled them. I have had a lot because of issues I had.

A co-worker is complaning? do you work with them on projects? I am just curious why a co-worker vs. a boss would even have input?

  • If your co-worker is being stupid, I would just not tell them about your Dr. appointments.  Just tell them you have a meeting scheduled or be general and just say "an appointment". It's none of their business anyway!

  • Yes she gripes about everything. She doesnt have any say in the matter really over my boss but she alot of the times THINKS she is the boss. Its just really annoying having to deal with that everytime i have a doctors appt. I work at a bank and their are only about 5 tellers and she just gets upset if we are gonna be short one person for a couple hours becuase she then knows she will actually HAVE to do work instead of just looking like she is. Sorry that was also a little bit of a vent. =p

  • I usually schedule my appointments late in the afternoon.  I am a salaried/exempt employee so I can adjust my schedule to come in or leave when I need to.  I still work 8 hours in the day but I might not be able to take a lunch break (eat at my desk) in order to leave for my appointments.

If your co-worker doesn't have any say in your time/attendance and does not directly over see you then it is none of her business. Tell her to focus on her own job and if she has concerns about your job performance to bring it up with your manager.

I hate people like this who always want to have something to say about every little thing.

  • I always make really early appointments so I don't get in to work too late (I actually had to switch OBs to find one that had 8:30am appointments).  You could also try to do it during your lunch break if it's nearby.
  • Your coworker is an idiot. Just never tell her when you have an appointment coming up. If she asks you anything when you leave early or come in late just brush it off and tell her you had a personal emergency or personal business or something like that. If she gives you any grief remind her that you had clearance from management and it's not really any of her business.
