NBR: I think that if you are under 18, you should have a min. GPA of 3.0 to be able to get your drivers liscense. If your not responsible enough to be a decent student, then you shouldn't be trusted behind the wheel of a car. Also, after a certain age, the elderly should have to retake their tests every few years. If you get more than 1 DUI you should have driving rights taken away for a year at least, and after 3 then it should be gone forever.
BR: I think that if you had a c/s with your first pregnancy it is irresponsible to attempt a VBAC at home. I'm all for a regular VBAC attempt at a hospital or even birthing center if that's what you feel is right, but not at home. I guess I just don't see the reasoning of, well I had a huge emergency with the first, but that just won't happen this time.

I can't stand when people (particularliy guys) wear baseball hats backwards. I think it looks absolutely ridiculous and I feel like their IQ must be the equivalent of my pinky toe if they can't figure out which end is the front.

Women need to get the fvck over their hair, specifically thinking that if they cut their hair more than 3/10 of an inch they are going to turn into frumpy, hideous frogs that no one can ever love. Every time I watch "What Not To Wear" and I see someone crying about getting a haircut, I want to throw something at my TV. Or when people cut an inch of their mid-back-length hair and complain "Oh my god it's sooooooooo short!" Stop putting so much of your self-esteem in your hair! I can understand it, I can: I say this as someone who didn't cut her hair more than a few
inches between the ages of 7 and 19 (it went all the way down my back). But seriously, just get over it already!
You are not your hair. Stop thinking that long hair is the only way you can be beautiful. It's not. Try new things. The cool thing about hair? It. Grows. Back. Honestly, it does.
This is going to make me sound like an old fuddy-duddy, but here goes:
I work in a professional office building and think many of my female coworkers dress completely inappropriately for the workplace, and I don't understand why it's allowed to go on. They wear shoes that strippers would envy with ridiculously thick soles and high heels, (one girl the other day literally looked like she borrowed her shoes from a dominatrix), they show cleavage everywhere and wear tight TIGHT jeans and short SHORT skirts.
Apparently it got so bad at one point that management actually had to send around an email explaining what exactly "casual Friday" meant, but that was before my time and it doesn't seem to have helped.
Ohandplusalso, they wear shorts, and it boggles my mind every day how they're able to get away with it. Granted the shorts are made with dress-pant material, but they are still above the knee.
At times when I'm talking to some of these women, I actually find myself having to say over and over in my head "Don't look at her chest, don't look at her chest." and it makes me very uncomfortable. I'm here to work -- save the meat-market scene for the night clubs.
The most ironic part of all this is that the company's official dress code policy only bans flip-flops.
I'm so with you! There's a colleague on my team who just graduated college and is only working here because of who her parents know (ugh, don't get me started on that!). We rarely have to dress up, but when we do, she's always wearing this tight mini skirt that barely lets her walk and a CAMI for a top with lace. She usually has some sort of cardigan or something, but the cami looks absolutely ridiculous.
My mom taught me the 3 B's that aren't allowed out of the house - boobs, butt, and belly (at least, not for work )

I hate the idea that having a baby = your house is now a chaotic, toy-filled clutter-fest, and there's absolutely nothing you can do about it. Don't get me wrong--I know it's idealistic to think my house is always going to be immaculate with a kid around. But I'm pretty sure it's me, and not the baby, who has the final say about what comes into our house. If we get too many things as gifts, I plan to rotate them, so she doesn't have too many toys out at once. We never lacked for toys growing up, but my mom did an awesome job of keeping our home tidy (without it feeling like a museum). It *can* be done.
ETA: On that same note, I hate baby/kid clothes that say things like, "I'm the boss now!" or, "It's all about me!" I get that some people think it's cute, but call me crazy--that's not really the attitude I want to foster in my kid.
I completely agree with the first part. My mom used to put away a few of the toys that I received as gifts (Christmas/bdays) and bring them out later like they were new. When you're little you don't know the difference!
For the second part, I get really annoyed when I'm looking at boy clothes and everything has "Daddy's Best Friend", "Team Grandpa", "Mommy's Little Monkey" written on it! Why can't I find anything that just has a design with no words??
This kind of goes with little girls wearing revealing cloths, but I hate babies and little children in binikis. Until girls are teenagers and actually have boobs to hold them up, I don't get why you would put them in a two piece. It's just more skin to burn and in my opinion is just inappropriate, not cute.
Y'all... these aren't very UNpopular opinions. I agree with almost all of you guys (well, except I DO think Casey Anthony is guilty, but I understand why she wasn't convicted). Oh, and I love the smell of cigar smoke... I've even smoked cigars on occasion. Love it.
Here's mine:
I don't understand people who deliberately choose to not have children, especially when they're in a stable marriage, and have plenty of money. I mean, I understand some people just don't want that life, but I just don't understand why. I guess because I've always wanted a family... I just can't imagine growing old without kids/grandkids around.
Kind of along with that, I don't understand people who get a vasectomy or their tubes tied at a young age. Maybe some people are more decisive than I, but I can't imagine making a decision of that permanency at anytime, let alone at 24. Not flaming anyone who does... I just don't understand.

People who get handicapped placards for their families members, like parents, grandparents, or children who they only have part time (like in a divorce situation) but still park in the handicap spot when their parents, grandparents, or children, who the placard was given to them for, isn't with them.
If the people that you got the placard for isn't with you then your butt can park in a normal spot and walk like every other person!

My 9 y/o DD wears a two piece because she is very long and skinny. Any one piece that fits her will give her a huge wedgie, and anything long enough for her is so baggy at the chest and sides it's indecent. We do, however, buy her two piece swim suits at a sporting goods store; they are made for girls on the swim team, so they cover quite a lot.
Ok, this one will probably get me thrown off the bump. I think having a c-section for no reason but patient choice is reckless and stupid. I think being induced because you are "uncomfortable" is selfish and wrong. Yeah, pregnancy is uncomfortable and labor hurts, but trying to have a baby and "opt out" of discomfort just isn't safe. I have seen waaaay too many complications that way.

I completely agree about little girls wearing revealing clothing! I think it reflects poorly on the parents and sets the little girls up for wanting to wear revealing clothes in the future when they are teenagers. The only thing I will say is that two pieces are way easier when trying to change a diaper or potty training while at the pool. One pieces can be a PITA to get down and up in a hurry especially if you have a two year old who reeeally has to go riiiight now But I don't think that means your daughter has to wear a bikini. There are tons of cute and modest tankini's and two pieces.

I agree with you. I think women forget that c-sections are major surgery. I find it odd that people would prefer to have this serious operation than go through labor.
on a random NBR note I think more people should embrace their inner weird. I had the highest grade..) My american history teacher was rreally rude to me my ffirst day in her class as well till she realized.. You will look at your husband in a whole new way when the baby comes, and you will love him even more when he's holding your child than you ever did before. It changes things, sure, I won't even begin to pretend it doesn't, but for us, it changed things for the better.

I am always telling H that I hope she is, or else she won't "fit in" with our lil' family we have going now (H, myself and even our dog are kinda "odd", haha).

I think women who are pregnant need to stop playing the "I'm sensitive or I'm emotional" card. I've been pregnant twice, I'm not new to this rodeo, I know we go through a mixture of emotions...but you make us sound disabled...we aren't. This is part of the reason why people talk to us the way they do.

I sort of agree with you, in most cases. My brother NEVER wanted kids. He did have one with his wife, and that boy is the light of his life. But he was very clear that he was done with it after that, he didn't want more. He had a vasectomy around the age of 26. He went through 6 counseling sessions in order for the doctor to do the procedure.
I cannot imagine a life without a family of my own, but I respect other people and their decisions. For whatever reason, they have a different "lifemap" than I do.

I agree, but sort of feel the opposite in a way. I think once our baby boy gets here, DH and I will finally go back to some normalcy in our relationship like we will be able to have some beers on the patio together and have that intimacy back in the bedroom that we have been missing so much. Pregnancy has been a lot of planning and new this and that and I'm looking forward to falling back in to our old routine, plus one! : )

I love the twilight movies and books. I have never seen any of the Harry Potter movies and never intend to.
I think it is perfectly okay to have a baby shower for each kid if somebody offers to throw you one.
My UO is that I'm slightly disturbed by grown adults who are obsessed with Harry Potter. Just like adults who wear Disney t-shirts.
Totally off topic but my mom is on a dating site and a guy she was talking to had in his "interesting facts" part that he had been to Disney World 68 times....uhh....I told her to stop talking to him immediately. What's more disturbing, going that many times or keeping count?
Late to the game, but this also reminds me of a co-worker telling me awhile back that the biggest thing in her divorce was trying to decide who kept/got all the Disney movies. Serious side-eye.

But I don't think that means your daughter has to wear a bikini. There are tons of cute and modest tankini's and two pieces.
I try to very seldom insert a BTDT opinion, but here I will.
You will look at your husband in a whole new way when the baby comes, and you will love him even more when he's holding your child than you ever did before. It changes things, sure, I won't even begin to pretend it doesn't, but for us, it changed things for the better.

Co-sign! And I love your weirdness.
I couldn't have said it better myself Lisa! P.S. You look beautiful in your new siggy pic!!
While I have never looked "different", I have always considered myself an odd ball. Haha. And...I LOVE IT! I totally agree with all of this! I think the world is WAAAYYYY too uptight. You live once, so why do you want to spend it with your nose stuck in the air! I too hope LO is random and crazy like me! I am always telling H that I hope she is, or else she won't "fit in" with our lil' family we have going now (H, myself and even our dog are kinda "odd", haha).
I actually have a UO today...
This was NOT directed to anyone specific on TB. I have 4 IRL friends who are pregnant now and think the world should revolve around them.
I'm SO with you on this one!! I'm not an emotional person as it is, but nothing erks me more than when my firends and family treat me like some sensitive Nancy that can't do anything. I've not once taken advantage of being pregnant to be doted on and can't stand people that do.
I must give partial credit to my father who at a young age, pointed this out to me...although doesn't state it quite the way I do!
italnprncss, I wish I knew how to quit you...
Seriously, huge co-sign on this. I feel the same way when people pull the "PMS card"
You want to 'quit' me? Please don't quit me LaComtesse
Late to the game, but this also reminds me of a co-worker telling me awhile back that the biggest thing in her divorce was trying to decide who kept/got all the Disney movies. Serious side-eye.
Ha! Metaphorically for the sake of a 6 year old movie joke, I assure you...
