Babies: 9 - 12 Months

UO Thursday

I have two random UO's:

  1. Circumcision is not genital mutilation.
  2. Smash cakes are stupid.
Happy Thursday everyone!

  • I never liked Amy Winehouse's music. I'm not saying she wasn't talented. I'm just saying that, if I want to listen to someone who sounds like Etta James, I'll listen to Etta James.

I also don't like any of the other modern-day "female retro singer" music: Adele, Duffy, etc.

Why? I mean, if it's not your cup of tea, it's not your cup of tea. There are plenty of genres I don't like.

But the statement "If I wanted to listen to Etta James..." kind of sounds like you're just playing the "I'm too cool" card.

I guess I don't see any originality in much of today's music. There's nothing truly new and inspiring about it to me. It seems like it's all been done before, so I just tend to stick with the originals until something truly revolutionary comes along.

KJ - I agree about most music today. My iPod is populated mostly with music that was made 5 years ago, at the earliest. That being said, I do feel that there are some folks out there making terrific music right now. How do you feel about the following:

    My Morning Jacket
    Neko Case
    Frightened Rabbit
    The Black Keys
    The Dead Weather

That's what I've got off the top of my head at the moment.

The little bits I've heard from those acts are not bad. Well, I haven't heard of Frightened Rabbit, but I wouldn't mind exploring them and the others more in depth. I'm always open to new stuff, and I trust your judgment. :)
