I'll start Smile

DS is just about 10 weeks and I have enough frozen milk now that if I wanted to stop today I would make my first goal of bm for 3 months. I am so proud of myself for reaching the first major milestone! I still want to try for 6 months though if possible. Some days I think I'm good to make that and other days I think I'm nuts. Once I go back to work after labor day, it could be a whole different story.

I am currently dealing with thrush that I can't seem to kick. Did 10 days of diflucan and it helped a lot but its not gone yet. I have been soaking in vinegar and using the clotrimazole cream but my nips are still just bright pink and flaky and my right side is still pretty sensitive and hurts some to pump. Thankfully I can keep up on 5 pumps a day and not have to pump 8-9 times.

I do have a question for other eper's if you track your oz's daily - do you get decent size swings in the amount you produce from day to day? Some days I will vary by as much as 5 oz... I am still making plenty for him to eat but on those low days I feel like the whole system is going to derail and my supply is going away... only for it to return in the next day or two.

All in all, I am proud of myself for pushing through this and giving him breastmilk but I would say I don't love this situtation and would still love to try to nurse him again (if I could get rid of the thrush and if he would even try to nurse if I let him). But for now, this is my very best option and I am making the best of it. The idea of formula literally brings me to tears (silly reaction - I know).

The good: My supply is back up, and my pits smell like maple syrup. I managed to even add to the freezer stash for the last two days. Yay!

The "meh": It's official...I'm not going back to work. So, this means it will be easier to pump (at home), but my loss of income is going to suck. So long being DINKs...

The bad: I'm wasting milk. I'm trying to add in nipple shield feedings...I try during each feeding...sometimes it's successful, other times it's not. So, I have prepared milk (with the high calorie fortifer) all ready to go to curb the hungry beast when she starts freaking out at the breast. Problem is, each bottle of prepared is only good for 24 hours in the fridge, so if I don't use the prepared, then I have to toss it. I tossed 4 oz yesterday, and it sucked.

A question for you all: For the time I pump and bottle feed at the same time (feeding DD is an epic event...she hates feeding time, so it's a struggle. I haven't been able to find a good way to hold her and lean forward at the same time.) what are your thoughts on these? Being able to lean back would allow me to feed her in her favorite position. Do they work?

Another question: When pumping, does your milk ever leak out the bottom of the flange and soak your shirt? Does this mean I have a wrong size?

damabo80: The ladies over on ivillage swear by the pumpingpals, but Inever tried them. leaking milk usually means wrong size shield (assuming your bra or something else isnt in the way). Definitely worth fixing, wasted milk = too sad!

My situation: EP'd for 6 months, now weaning:

My good: I haven't pumped in 8 days, and I don't feel like I'm going to die! I'm a little protective and sleeping still isnt going well (stomach sleeper) but I think I'm ok. Or will be. But I still carry the pump in my car everywhere I go, just in case

My meh: I don't quite know what to do at this point. I would like to feel empty NOW, but I don't want to pump and stimulate more milk...at the same time, not sure if I should just walk around all "heavy" and tender...will all this just re-absorb into my body? Not finding great answers...

My ugly: we're travelling this weekend and I get all frazzled dealing with frozen milk (keeping it frozen/using within 24 hours of thaw/etc) but I'm not ready to go all formula yet. Also, feeding solids takes WAY MORE time and effort than bottle feeding did!

The good: I have officially filled an entire deep freeze with breastmilk - 2500 oz is in there.

The meh: I'm trying to decide if I want to drop a session or not.

The bad: I cannot find a regular bra that is comfortable so I have been wearing sports bras for the last 5 months.

Good: my freezer stash is rockin' I have almost 1200oz in there.

Bad: Nothing with pumping. Some other crazy *** is going on in my life though, so I could use good vibes from you all. I am keeping my fingers, toes, eyeballs, basically everything crossed that I get a new job. I interviewed Monday and it was an awesome interview. The position is awesome an I really want to be a part of the team I interviewed with. I hope they saw that and I get the job. I am supposed to go back to my current job on Tuesday. It might not be happening with what they are asking me to do.

Dama, I cross my legs (like you did on a carpet when you were young). Put Gabe in the crook of my leg and feed him. Then I pump at the same time with my hands free bra.
