DH reached a point of success this year that his company is shipping us off for four days/five nights to a place where all of our meals and activities will be taken care of. Sounds fabulous, right? Well, I've got this pit in my stomach whenever it comes up in conversation and DH knows it. We have the option to bring DS, but most don't from what DH has told me. There are dinners with colleagues, late night drinks, etc. etc. It's just not the best venue for LOs- I get it. Plus, it will be nice to have so much time for just the two of us for a change.
Here are my concerns- one, I'll be leaving LO (DH has traveled for work a few times now) for the very first time not only overnight but multiple nights. I know I will miss him like mad, but I think I can do it and I don't want to put off something that is so important to DH for this reason alone. (I did think about staying behind and just telling him to go and have fun- I can't and shouldn't do that, right?).
Secondly, I EBF & have about a day's worth in the freezer. How in heck am I supposed to pump enough to cover these days? If I can't save enough and end up introducing formula during this time, will this throw off BFing? I told DH I don't want this to be a reason for me to stop BFing. I am enjoying it, DS is thriving on it and it just plain works for us- we're lucky. I'm already taking Fenugreek 3x/day and pump four sessions (three while at work and one evening). I drink water like it's my job too. WDYT?
ETA- the trip is not until October.
Re: XP- traveling without LO
The longest I was away from DD while we were EBF was three days and two nights when she was 10 months old. It is SO much work to coordinate pumping enough while you're away, not to mention the stress of keeping the BM safe and traveling with it...the logistics definitely kind of take away from any relaxing that was going on.
If it were my child at that age, I would make the accommodations and bring LO.

Just pump pump pump. Maybe add in a morning and before bed session. You can just combine the milk once cold in the fridge into a freezer bag.
I think with what you are doing, you will have a better stash come October. Will he be eating more solids by then too?
I understand, I leave DS for 5 days when I have to travel for work and it sucks!!
I agree with PP, keep doing what you are doing and maybe add in an extra pump session and you can build up your stash before then. Im assuming he will be on solids by then? If so, that will help some.
As for the trip, are you flying? Definitely request a room with a fridge, fresh pumped milk is good in the fridge for up to 8 days so you can freeze it when you get home. If you are flying, make sure you check with the airlines as to the rules for traveling with BM. By then, your supply should be well established and you should be fine pumping every 4-6hrs.
DH and I recently spent a weekend away and left LO with my parents. I made up 3 bottles and took the rest frozen and put it in their freezer so they just pulled out a bag and dropped it in a bowl of warm water when LO needed a bottle. It worked out great and I ended up taking half of it back home with me because I way over estimated. I was nervous too because the only other time I had left DS was with DH but he did great! Have fun and try not to stress! The biggest PIA is the pumping and storing but your LO will be fine.
