Diaper Trouble..

So DS seems to be sttn now, but his diapers aren't. i feel guilty when he wakes up soaked, yet feel as equally guilty waking him up to change him because it fully wakes him up. Are there any brands of diapers or tricks so i can let him sleep or do i just have to keep waking him? Sad

Re: Diaper Trouble..

  • My LO has never leaked at night...he is in cloth, BumGenius 4.0's with a microfiber and a hemp insert.

  • I've never had a leaking issue, but I've seen it suggested to go up a diaper size a night to hold everything in.  My doctor said that you should not wake a baby at night to change a went diaper.  Hope this helps.

  • I feel your pain.  DS is a heavy wetter and soaks through sometimes.  Huggies Overnites have helped -- we go up one size though.  So, he wears size 3 Pampers Swaddlers during the day but size 4 Huggies Overnites at night.  I pull the diaper up in front as high as it will go and pull it as tight as can be while still leaving DS comfortable and able to breathe.  He still soaks through some nights but much less often than before! GL!

  • W is in between size 1 and 2... 1s too small and 2s are too big. Ive been trying size 2 but they seem too big and he soaks more. i sometimes wish i could just put a swimmer on him. I've never thought of cloth diapers though, may have to give them a try

Have you tried the size 1-2s that Pampers has? That might be a good fit for your LO in this in between stage! :)

  • If you're using disposables buy a size bigger for nighttime.  If you're in cloth, try adding a hemp insert, those things are crazy absorbant.

  • I use the next size up for night time.  Just hike it up as far and you can and get it on tight.  Her diaper is super full in the morning but there's no way I'm waking her up to change it!

  • We had the same problem last week. We always use pampers at night but he was leaking. The size 2 were getting smalle. I switched to the 3 cruisers and have not had a leak yet. I had never had the issue before he was getting too big for the diaper. We use target brand during the day since daycare changes him every two hours. They are great for daily wear, but not overnight.

  • Where do you get the cloth ones at?

  • We are using pampers swaddlers or baby dry during the day, and fisher price over nights for nite use since LO is a belly sleeper. He leaked 2 nights in a row with pampers baby dry which had never happened before, so we went up to size 3 and that worked fine no more leaks. They had the FP overnights on sale for $5 and we needed more diapers overall so I got them to give them a try and so far they work perfect :)

    You could try Kelly's Closet, Jillian's Drawers, Diapers.com, Cottonbabies.com.

For nighttime, I'd suggest Bum Genius 4.0s with an added Thirties Hemp Liner.  Hemp is crazy absorbant.

This, expecially cottonbabies.com  very easy site to use.

  • We use cloth 24/7. I find a fitted with a cover (we use wool, but any cover would work) works the best. For fitteds, we use bububebe (super cute prints and she's having a sale right now) or sustainablebabyish. We've never had a leak or a blowout in cloth - day or night :) Good luck!!
