clothes storage

How do you store outgrown baby clothes? We currently have them in space bags which I loved at first until I realized how much of a pain in the a$$ they are when you need to add something (or when someone borrows baby clothes and then never uses them - repacking them was a PITA). Plus they never stay flat - air always seeps in.

Re: clothes storage

  • I just have them in those plastic tubs. They stayed pretty fresh - I had a second girl so I unpacked all of her older sister's things and everything was in good shape. I washed it all again just to be safe but nothing smelled moldy. (It was all in the basement.)

Of course, those take up a lot of space.

  • I keep a giant Rubbermaid container in his closet, and throw the outgrown clothes into it.  When it fills up, I fold them all (so I can reminisce), and put the bin up in our giant attic.

  • We just have them in some army footlockers.  They take up a lot of space but you can stack things on them.  It isn't ideal - I'd like to hear what other people do.

  • I suck at this so basically whatever I had on hand when I was putting stuff away at any given time. Garbage bags for some, but I've also used those Giant Ziploc bags - those I like but they're a PITA to close. You can get a ton of stuff in there though.

  • I just have them in rubbermaid storage bins in the basement.   I have one in his closet for things he is currently outgrowning and when that fills up, it will go down to the basement.  THen I will just buy another one.

It takes up a lot of space, and actually I was considering getting the space bags, but just never got around to it.

I might just keep the bins.

  • We use a mix of clear storage bins, old diaper boxes (the big ones) and in rare instances a garbage bag.  We were fortunate to get awesome hand-me-downs from several people and most of it came to me in garbage bags, so as I go through it and use it the garbage bags go away.

  • We use Rubbermaid containers and store them in our basement. I pack them up by size (or if something runs small, it goes in the appropriate container). They take up a ton of room.

This, except they are currently in Isaac's room.  I'll probably move them to a spare closet at some point.

  • We have  ours in rubbermaid bins.  Lots, and lots, and lots of bins.  We only keep the girl stuff though, since DS is not the youngest or smallest boy in the family.  We hand down pretty much everything to my SIL since she has a DS 2 years younger then ours.

  • We currently use the big plastic bins too.

We have 6 of them, full, in his closet right now. I can't wait to hand them down to either my sister (team green due in Aug) or my cousin (boy due in Dec).
