Baby Showers

where to host this baby shower?!

I've been chosen by my future sister in law to host her baby shower. Only problem I'm having is finding a location!!!!! I'm in glendale, AZ and don't have a very big budget. I'd like to find a place to hold it that's free, but all of our family/friends live in an apartment! :(

Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I could look to host a baby shower for 25-30 people?

Thank you :)

Re: where to host this baby shower?!

  • are there any local parks in your area where you could have it? Or I second the pp who said a local church.

I find it odd that you were chosen to host it. Did you have a say in the matter?

I don't think an outside baby shower would work in Glendale, AZ. It's about 100 degrees there if not hotter already.

A lot of apartment complexes have clubhouses that are essentially free. You just pay a deposit and as long as it's cleaned up and put back the way you found it, you get your deposit back.

You could try a banquet room at a local cafe or restaurant. You only have to pay for food, which is what I'm doing for my 1st baby shower.

This.  Especially the part about a clubhouse- should be the least expensive way to go :)  I'm in AZ too and outside (unless you do it at like 8am) would only work if you are having a pool party :)  (which actually might be cute).

Do you or any of your family/friends belong to a church? That's an option. Also, check if anyone's apartment/townhouse/condo has a community room available to rent. These are usually very low priced. There's also usually spaces available from fire departments, organizations like Knights of Columbus, etc. that are cheap.

Side note: What exactly do you mean by you were "chosen" to host her baby shower?

This.  Look at local VFW/American Legion Halls, and even most local fire departments have catering halls with nice sized spaces, full kitchens, etc...
