I was wondering if we still have some running mom's out there and how you are doing? I still run my 3 miles every few days but my family keeps insisting me to stop because they swear its not good for the baby. Now my doctor said its perfectly fine due to how active I was prior to pregnancy and to just listen to my body. Anyone else hearing similar things?
Re: Anyone still running?
Since I've always been a runner, my midwife said it's completely fine to continue for as long as my body allows. I run 3-5 miles 4-5 times a week with no issues.
I do get the same comments as you though. Apparently, my baby will be born with brain damage because of all the shaking going on in there when I run. My mom said I should stop and my neighbors give me dirty looks every time I run past. One of them (a woman in her 80s) told me I need to stop because it's not good for the baby. FWIW, my friend ran every single day up to a week before delivery and her baby is totally fine and very healthy. On the plus side, she lost all her weight within 2 months because she was so active during pg and really soon after birth.
I stopped two weeks ago after enduring some discomfort on my lower right side towards the end of my run. I am fairly certain its RLP (happens at the end of my walks with my pup sometimes too) so I may give it another shot this week before calling it quits until after the birth. I really miss it- even the two miles I'd been doing as of late made me feel great.
Oh and my doctor said it is fine to continue running, so long as I was running prior to pregnancy.
I don't run but I still do my regular exercise and I get comments all the time. And if DH wasn't with me when the DR said it was okay to continue the same activity level I had pre-pregnancy, he would probably try to stop me too! We went mountain biking (not too rough of a course) Sunday, and I got plenty of comments. Of course, I won't be able to ride my bike much longer cuz my belly's gettin in the way! It's like waddling on wheels, lol.

I heart this. I applaud you ladies who are still running/working out so much. I was sick and nervous in the first tri and never really picked things back up in the second tri. I would LOVE to work out again, but just getting through the day is an effort, so I'm thinking I will pick things back up after baby is here. You all rock though!
Baby Girl #2 is on her way!
I am, just less mileage less often and slower than I used to.
It's great for baby to get the increased oxygen, first of all! Secondly the more active you stay during your pregnancy the easier it'll be for you to get started again once the baby comes.
I feel so good after I run, but there have been times this pregnancy where running just felt WRONG so I walked instead. As long as you're listening to your body I don't think you can go wrong. My MW reminded me that runners have a tendency to push through pain but we have to be really cautious and listen to our bodies well and shouldn't have trouble.
It's good for me and good for baby, and I don't plan to stop any time soon.
I dont get it, I want to continue my regular exercise regimen prior to pregnancy which was a lot of cardio, (cycling class), BUT my doctor said to keep my heart rate at 140 (max) for 20 minutes at a time. She wants me to still be able to talk and not run out of breath during my maximum cardio time. That's hardly a workout for me. I'm so used to sweating and getting a really good workout. I feel so restricted.
totally jealous of the ladies who can still run. why is my doctor so conservative???!
