This group is open to anyone who has already gone through donor egg/donor embryo/gestational carrier, is in the process of it, or plan on doing it in the future.

QOTW: How have you/would you feel about comments other people make about your baby looking like you? (I?m starting to get worried about people trying to figure out who our baby looks like since we used both DE and DS, so I would appreciate any thoughts on this?)

QOTD: I have found that people see what they want to see.
A lot of people have told me they see my Dad in him (heck, there are some facial expressions that even I see my Dad in him). I also get told he looks a lot like my DH (although I don't see it at all). J's hair is starting to curl and so people assume that is from me. I have been told he has my nose. Whatever people say, I usually just respond with "Thank you" or "you think?" or "I agree, he is adorable"
If people don't know, they aren't going to be looking for differences. I think people automatically look for anything they can attribute as similar.
Update: I can't believe I will have a one-year old in less than two weeks!! We took him to Pic ture Peo ple yesterday for his one-year photo shoot (Thanks Groupon!!). He was a wild man! Every time I put him on the backdrop he would crawl right off and out of the room. Mr. BusyBody wanted to see everyone reviewing their pictures. I didn't think we should have a single "keeper" shot and I was SHOCKED at how many good ones we got. Even the photographer said he was surprised and was just hoping he had some in focus! See updated siggy for one of them.

Update: My sister is very likely going to trigger tonight with ER on Thursday. The doctors are worried about OHSS for her, so I am starting to get worried for her. I really hope that she does okay. So far she has a good number of follies. I hope the majority of them are mature and that they fertilize normally.
QOTD: Since we are using my sister's eggs, I am hoping that if we are lucky enough to get PG, people will just see that the baby got genes from my side of the family.

After our cycle got cancelled, we decided to go back to the RE that I went to for our second opinion. We are going to try with my eggs one more time at a different clinic/lab before we pursue DE again. I was so disappointed that I thought it wouldn't hurt to try with my eggs again one more time. If it doesn't work/I miscarry again, then I will look into DE again. I am just feeling a little down on the DE process. I know so many people get cycles cancelled for one reason or another, but it just put such a damper on my mind and outlook that I feel this is the best decision for me at this point. I hope I can still check in with all of you and see where everyone is in this process.

I always thought about that and that was one of the things I was not so sure about. I would probably just say "thanks" or "really, you think so?" I am not sure though. I never made the decision about how many people I would tell either.
After 1 IUI, 3 IVF's with CGH/CCS testing, 10 early miscarriages, and lots of tears and frustration, we are moving on to Domestic Infant Adoption! We are so excited to see what the future holds.

Status: I tested today at 8dp3dt and it was positive. I was using a cheapie blue line test that expires in September though (I couldn't wait and dug it out of the back of the drawer). Hopefully FRER tomorrow morning will confirm it... and then comes the long wait to make sure it's growing and in the right place (my ute). Unfortunately even a BFP at this point only makes me partially happy!
QOTD: This was one thing that used to really bother me about the idea of DE, but I guess I've just gotten to the point where I want a baby so bad I don't really care what others say or don't say. I do think it's weird that people are so obsessed with who a baby looks like - like in order to 'prove' it belongs to that family it has to have a physical resemblance. At this point I've come to believe there are more important things that make a family, and being obsessed with where physical traits come from don't really seem to mean much.

Thanks to everyone for your answers to the QOTW - that was really helpful. I'm thinking that I'll be so happy to have my baby, that comments won't bother me, but I'm still trying to prepare myself for the comments and how I might feel about them.
Update: I'm doing pretty well. My energy is going down and work is getting a little more difficult (even though I don't have a physical job). Can't believe how close we are!

I have a question. Is anyone using DE for a second child? I have a daughter that is 3 and we are considering sort of considering i guess about DE. I have to figure out how to come to terms with this.
