What do you call your LO?

I see a lot of "little monkey" and cute pet names in people's posts and siggys.  What do you call your LO?  And where did the name come from (if it's not related to their given name)? Did it start while you were pregnant or did it come over time?

Re: What do you call your LO?

  • I know this sounds conceited but I call her 'Gorgeous.' As in Funny Girl's "Hello Gorgeous" line. I also call her 'lil bit' and 'booger.'

  • He doesn't have many that don't originate with his name-  we'll call him The Boy when talking to each other, but when talking to him, it's Sully, Sullster, Sullybritches, Sullymander, Sully day (followed by "sweeping the clouds away- Seasme Street theme).

  • We called her Turd for awhile because that's what we called each other.  DH now calls her Pickle though.  I asked him how he came up with it and he said, "Well, we call her Turd and Princess all the time, so I just combined them".

    And so, she is Pickle.

  • DH and I both call DD munchie, smooshie, or smunchie (i.e. munchie and smooshie together).  I BF on demand and DD nursed every hour sometimes less for the first month or so, so that is where munchie came from.  I'm not sure where smooshie came from, lol!

Could it be because her cheeks are so smooshable? Cause they totally are.

    BTW, love her name.

  • I thought about asking this a couple of days ago but never got around to it, lol. Glad you did :)

I call DD Baby Doll usually, or occasionally Baby Girl.  That got me in trouble when I took her to a baby shower and they had the clothespin game going.  I've been calling her Baby Doll pretty much since day 1, I think it's mostly due to her being so tiny (at least for my family).

  • Stinkster, Stinky McStinkster, Stink-Stink, or Fuzz Head :) Oliver is quite gassy and he has the Old Man Mullett :)
  • I call her "bug", I am not sure where it came from but I call my older daughter that too. Lately though I have been calling her "drooly Julie" because she is constantly drooling.
  • there's sooo many! ebee, bebe, emma b., stinks, stickabutt, lil markette (she's a spitting image of her daddy mark), chunks, goob & of course her name...Emma Bliss. :] lots of names!

  • Normally, we call her Hadles or Hadle-bug.  DH called her Snuggles when she was born so he'll still call her that sometimes.  I normally call her bug, but will call her all sorts of pet names.  DH said we call her so many things that she's not going to know her real name, lol!

I love that you're "Crunchy" and she's "Munchie"! lol

We call DS buster, big boy, stinkbutt or Mr. Magoo.  No idea why or where these came from (except Stinkbutt-I believe that says it all!), but he seems to like them!

  • Pecan. Because she's too big to be a peanut :)

ETA: Oh, and "Drama," because she's showing drama queen tendencies already. That's my girl.

  • We have a lot- Pax, Mr.P, bubbaloo, bubs, my itty bitty man, handsome and dude mostly, with the occasional poopeyman, stinka, drooliepoo, or cranky pants (for obvious reasons.)

we all so call him his full name quite often, which I never thought we would- Paxton Michael.

  • I call her "baby girl" a lot, but also Stinky and Boogie.  Stinky came about because she was acting stinky and Boogie comes from boogie monster when she acts like a monster, lol.  She's actually a good baby, but I just mess around.

  • Besides actually calling her by her name, I call her "Chicken". When we were still in the hospital, I started calling her "angry bird" and "hungry chicken" because she would furiously "peck" and "yell" at me when she was hungry. For a while, I alternated between "Birdie" and "Chicken", but Chicken stuck. :)

  • We call our little guy "Monkey" (because he was a chunky monkey when he was born) or lately I've been calling him "Fussy Britches".
  • Sister, little girl, EE (it is what DS calls her), and sweetness. DS has had the nickname doufus since he was a couple weeks old be we are trying to phase that one out as he is getting older!

  • I'm lovin' all the nicknames for your LO'sBig Smile...

We call our DD: Baby Girl, Sweet Pea, Chickie Poo, Tinkerbell (started as "Tinky" instead of "Stinky" because, well, she's a Lady!!), Kenzie (from her name), and my mom calls her Lil' Miss.

  • I call DS button. I think it came from "cute as a button" but in all reality I am not sure why I started calling him that.

We just called him little man when I was PG since we didn't have a name.

  • Jack-Jack and Ian-Monster are what we use most often. Everyone accuses me of stealing Jack-Jack from The Incredibles, but I swear it just fell off my tongue in the hospital and I didn't think of that until DH mentioned it.

We also use Fussy Butt, Little Man, Fussy Pants, and Fussy Baby interchangeably whenever they apply. I think their origins are pretty self-explanatory.

I call her the little bean, pumpkin, fluffy butt (because of her CD) or pterodactyl for her screechy noises

  • We call him Lukey, little man, and buddy a lot. They just kind of came about randomly, with the exception of Buddy....that started out because DH was constantly talking about him being his little buddy when he was born.

  • We call DD "Peeper" or "Little Peeper."  When she was a brand new newborn, she would make these little peeping sounds when she was waking up from a nap and that was our cue to get her bottle ready.  We'd say "she's peeping, better get the bottle ready" and it just stuck.  "How's my little peeper?" is a common phrase around here.
