Is this dress too short for work???

Hi, ladies. I'm so exciting. I  just got a new job. You know I was out of work for so long time after give birth to my baby.  Next week, I will go to work.I want to choose a dress for it. I spent much time on it, at last I chose this strapless dress. I like its style very much.  But my hubby said it is too short for wo. Do you think so ? Give me some advice!

Re: Is this dress too short for work???

  • Are you planning on wearing a cardigan or something over it?  I think not only with it being so short but also strapless it's a bit much for work but that also depends on how formal the company is.  Also, it depends a lot on your body too, if you don't have the body to pull this off it will look really trashy.  There is a girl that works in the same building as me (different office) and is constantly wearing short little dresses like this but she is pretty large and has cellulite on her thighs (it's really bad).  Anyways, I guess if you have to ask others your already thinking it might be too short so maybe try something a bit more safe like maybe a pencil skirt and nice top? Once you are there for a little bit you can see what others are wearing to know if that's appropriate or not.

  • My first thought is strapless is not appropriate for work.  Unless you are going to wear a sweater over it (as pp suggested).

Second, if you *think* something may be in appropriate for work it probably is.   That's my rule of thumb.  Better to be cautious in these matters.

For your first day I would take pp's advice and wear something simple then see what others wear.  Each office environment is different but you don't want to get off on the wrong foot.

Congratulations on the new job!  That is very exciting - good luck!

  • The length depends on how it hits you. I would definitely wear it with a cardigan or shrug.

Totally depends on the job.  My job is casual but I wouldn't wear that.  On the weekend when I am running in on the weekend for five minutes, yes, but during the work week, no.

Well, she said, "I'm so exciting!" If so, good for business :-)
