Q re. eco-friendly disposables

We are planning on CDing, but BRU is running a special on disposable diapers right now and we thought we would stock up on a few packs for traveling, outings, etc. For $5, they are selling a jumbo pack of either Earth's Best or 7th Gen disposables. Are either of these brands eco/baby friendly or have they been "green washed" to sound better than they actually are? Are there better EFF brands on the market, e.g. Tushies, etc.?

    Nature Babycare are the only biodegradable diapers on the market, but they are made from corn [water-hogger], and made in Israel [transportation / oil usage]. 

    7th Gen aren't really very "green". They use oil-based chemicals and dye their diapers brown to give a more "natural" look. Earth's Best have an oil-based gel for the absorbency pellets, as well. I don't know where these are made.

    While on vacation our choice was Nature Babycare, because to me, I'd rather have no oil against my baby's bottom and they won't last in a landfill forever.

    You could also look at Tushies. They don't have gel in them. They have wood pulp so it's more natural. I agree with the PP about the others. I think they're okay occasionally though. I've used all those brands at one point or another. 7th Gen were okay. Definitely good at the smaller stage.

    Yeah, let me just say these are still all much better than Pampers or Huggies or whatever.. but really, as far as diapers go, cloth is the only actual green option.

    The BRU deal is still cheaper (comes out to $.13 vs. $.18).

    Anyway, thanks all! It's only for occassional use so I bought a few bags of the 7th Gen. If it turns out that we need more for whatever reason ( gah, I hope not), I will investigate the Tushies a litte more.

    Mine was an oops too. I picked up 1 pack of Earth's Best trainers and am fully planning on picking up more tonight. They're just SO cheap and I think they'll be great for on the go. I would have done the same thing in your shoes.
