Poor DS! I had asked the dr to look at his circumcision site because I had noticed a small little "pocket" in the skin and had s little white stuff come out of it- I thought it was diaper cream that got stuck in there. It ended up being that the skin had reattached after the circumcision and the dr had to pull it back, basically tearing it! I felt sooooo bad for DS, although he didn't do too bad. He screamed and cried for quite a while after though, then he had to get shots. I started crying a bit after and felt just awful to see my baby in pain. I felt even worse that I probably could've prevented it. I thought I had been pulling the skin down during bathtime, but I guess not far enough. One thing that bothered me is that I'm sure it was like that at his 2 month apt also and dr never said anything. Maybe he didn't notice. If I ever have another boy, I will make sure that doesn't happen again!!
Re: 4 month well check was awful!
No one ever told me about pulling the skin down to prevent reattachment until my mom was over and helped me give DS a bath. Apparently she was scolded by my brother's pediatrician 30 years ago and it stuck! It makes me upset that no medical professional ever shared this with me though... I've read many posts about mommies not knowing they were supposed to do this until it was too late.
poor baby boy
My friend with the 2 boys told me about this... it happened to their first.
Landon's has started to get red around the tip. I need to ask the doctor about it.
Life of mrsjanks
the same thing happened to my DS she told me at his 2 month appt to pull it back and get the little pocket outt, she also gave me a perscription for it because she said it was going to be red and raw looking. well i tried everything and i couldnt get it back so at his 4 month i asked her about it again and she got it back a little and i finally after a couple days of pulling pretty hard (poor little guy!) i finally got it all. its still red but its looking sooo much better ! and i put the stuff on it every time i change his diaper and make sure i pull it back so he doesnt have to go through that again. if you think it looks red and is hurting him maybe ask to get the stuff i have.. its called "fluocinolone acetonide ointment" i think it seems to make him feel better after i put it on, and its definetly helping the redness.
so no im probably going to be obsessive about making sure its always pulled back and nothing like that happends again. i dont want to make him go through that pain again. i felt bad bc like you said i could have prevented it most likely but its all better now.
SORRY ITS SO LONG JUST LETTING YOU NO
