Warning; all about poo. I was/am use to being very regular with BM's. Of course pregnancy has thrown a kink in that. What is the best and most gentle med I can take to get things moving? In other words, I'm at work and can't sit by the throne all day. Thanks so much!
Re: Need rec: best "gentle" med to help go #2
stool softeners like colace (i get the store brand) are super helpful! though i have to say even though i've been taking them for like 2 months, i'm by no means regular :-( but it does make it easier to go when i do go.
also LOTS of water, and even eating prunes.
i want to say miralax is safe for pg but i'm not 100% on that so i'd check w/your doc first on that one, but the stool softeners and prunes are safe!
ETA: none of these should make it where you're on the pot all day either. they should just help you go.. not make it explosive or anything lol!
i thank Speed for shedding light on colace.
I had a cocktail I drank every day when I was PG with Callie as well as post-delivery due to the meds causing constipation.
In the beginning to get things back to "normal" I did Metamucil 2-3X per day as needed, but every single night I would make my cocktail:
Glass of orange juice laced with Metamucil AND Miralax chased by 3 non-stimulant Colace. It was my geriatric drink but it was the only thing that worked for me. That is a lot of help drug-wise and I had to take all of it just to keep "regular", and even that term I use lightly because pregnancy really messed up my bod!
The OJ helps it all go down easy.
Fun times!
Thanks yall! I will def. be stopping by the store tonight to pick up some colace. I'm a little better this afternoon because I had fast food Japanese food for lunch- because I know you wanted to know that detail
But thanks again! I really appreciate it!
