I'm tired of putting the ring back and forth when DS potties. I've seen it in some houses the toilet seat potty insert. Do Lowes or HomeDepot carry them? Or do I have to order online?
Donna, what happens if you try to get him to hold himself up with his hands on the seat? We started off with a toilet ring and ditched it after a couple months (for one, it was hard to wipe her well with that teensy ring). Geneva was able to hold herself up on toilets out in public, so I figured she could do it at home. Might save you a penny or two...

Are you talking about the toilet seat that has a potty seat built into it? We saw them at Blue moon Pizza & bought them when we moved. I love them the toddler seat just flips up into the lid. I dont have to think about where I am going to store the toddler seat and its MUCH easier to keep clean. they are a little more expensive that your regular toilet seat seat & for us totally worth it. we bought them at home depot

For some reason...William will only seat if there's a ring. I think he was traumatized when he was lil when he "slipped" a lil at one of the public restrooms. It's so odd but sometime he'll sit on a grown up one sometimes he won't. The kid could hold it like it's his business I certainly dont want to discourage him from using the potty. So I guess whatever floats his boat
