My 8 yr old is currently obsessed with the story of the Titanic and wants to watch the movie. I however have not found 3 and a half hours to sit and devote to it, plus the extra hour that will be required to explain parts of the movie.
I am obsessed with the movie Garden State. I know it's not that good, I just love it. Also to whoever said Clue and Labrinyth those too (I know I can't spell sorry)

Also, Summer Magic. Old movie with Haley Mills. My sister and I used to watch it over and over on VHS when we were kids. I found it on DVD on Amazon a few years ago and watch it at least once a month.
