We are heading out of town this weekend for a wedding 7 hours away. Luckily, my parents were willing to come with us so that we could bring LO, but still have someone to watch her while we head to the ceremony and reception. I'm trying to figure out how much BM to bring with me. We did get a hotel room with a fridge, so hopefully that helps.
The shuttle leaves for the wedding around 4pm, so I'm planning on nursing as close to that time as possible. She would probably need one to two more bottles before going down for the night at 7:30, one in the rare case she wakes up and one to two more for the morning. That would be about 20 oz total (def more than she would normally eat in that time span, but I'd rather leave them with too much). I'll pump the two days we are there before the wedding, so I should have 8-10 oz from that, but don't want to count on that.
Anyways, what my novel is getting at, does it make sense to bring frozen BM (which would have to be used in 24 hours if it thaws), or bring what I pump this week, which could stay in the fridge for a few days before use?
Blah, I hate to overanalyze, but I hate even more to waste BM!
Re: How much BM should I take?
Overanalyze away, sistah--I do!
I would bring frozen. Keep it frozen til you are ready to use it, but that way your freezee stash stays fresh, if that makes sense.
It's not like maybe she'll need it, maybe she won't. Girl's gotta eat.

Since I'm an over packer with everything, including BM, this is what I would do:
Bring 8-10 oz frozen, 8-10 oz pumped this week, and pump while there. I would use it in that order (frozen, fridge, fresh) and bring home the leftovers. FWIW, my LO eats way more with a sitter during a feeding than she does at home. Normally 3-4 oz with DH, and around 6 oz with others- I don't really know why.
