calcium deposit in babies heart...

At my last ultra sound I was told my baby has a calcium deposit about the size of a pin point on his heart. They said it was nothing to worry about but im just wondering if anyone else has heard of or is dealing with this??

  • I've seen tons of posts about this and it ends up resolving itself or being nothing. My own SIL had this in the little boy she's carrying and it has resolved itself or perhaps it was a shadow all along. Either way, everything is A-OK.

  • we were just told that one of our twins has this they also called i a light spot or echogenic focus and told us if our risk #s for downs was high it could be a marker but since it wasnt at all a high risk # that it was nothing to worry about and does sometimes go away in 3rd tri but if it doesnt that it does not effect the health or function of the heart and they told us not to worry. Of course I am a little worried theres nothing worse than hearing things arent 110% perfect with LO. Im sure if your doc was worried they'd ask you to do more testing so Im sure its fine, try not to worry

  • I had this on my U/S and they told me that I had to come back for a level 2 ultra sound where they do a bunch of measurements for down syndrom. they told me that it doubled my chance of having downsydrome frm 1/10000 to 1/5000.  I heard that only 18% of ds babies even have this.  I was very scared and worried but the more I talked to the doctor they said there is nothing to worry about if all the other screenings are fine.  It has nothing to do with a heart defect at all.  They said that it will go away with no problems.  Just try not to stress too much over it.  I understand where you are coming from and I am sorry you have to go thru it because I did cry and was very stressed for 2 or 3 days. Try to keep your chin up :)
