Pregnant after IF

Its SOOOO hot!!

The heat index outside today here in Beaufort, SC is 112 degrees!  I work at the hospital here and you have to walk outside to get to the cafe and I swear I thought I was going to over heat just walking over and back.  The cafe is along the Beaufort River and usually it is much cooler over there but even in the shade and on the water....it was H-O-T!  I was just wondering, since so many states are in the middle of this heat wave, how you are all dealing with the heat and staying cool!  My good friend is 8.5 months pregnant and I just don't know how she's doing it!!!

Re: Its SOOOO hot!!

  • My cousin and his wife and daughter live in Beaufort!  He's a Marine stationed there.  :)  As for the heat, I just stay inside with the a/c on as much as possible.  I don't go outside if I don't have to and limit my trips out to get the most done at once.  Summers in the South are miserable.

  • The massive heat wave really hasn't hit us yet (it starts tomorrow).  I'm just freaking out b/c we're hosting our annual reunion BBQ for DH's frat on Saturday (about 40 people)  and the temp is forecasted at 100.  Granted, we have a pool (which I'm sure everyone will be in), but I'm not comfortable being in a maternity bathing suit in front of all his friends....I'm sure it will be too hot for me to be outside, so I'm trying to figure out how to be the perfect pregnant hostess under the conditions...

  • Omg it is so hot! I am from the midwest and it is so hot and humid here :( I have family in SC and they are saying how warm it is too.

Colorado- Since we are due in March we won't have to try to beat the heat...which is a plus! I'm glad you are cautiously optimistic too :)

  • That is really hot.  Here in AZ I just try to stay indoors with the AC as much as possible and drink lots of water.  Funny thing is I've felt so cold lately.  I was joking with DH last night that it is over 100 degrees here yet I'm reaching for the blanket on the couch while DH is sweating and about to turn on the fan.

No Kidding!!!  So happy I won't be giant in the heat of summer!!  And I love that I live where I don't have to worry about slipping and on the ice in the Winter :)  It will be perfect to be pregnant in the winter here...it's usually 50-60 degrees with a few days closer to 70....can't complain about that!

  • okay at first when I saw your post I thought you lived in Colorado until I read it! I imagine it is pretty steamy in SC.

My Mom lives in Boulder,CO and she will complain about the heat and I just laugh at her and tell her to stop complaining-it is nothing like TX is right now!

  • I'm in KY and the heat index has been over 100 all week. The a/c at work broke so I'm playing hookie because a/c works at home. Lots of water, milkshakes, and other cold stuff.

  • Tell me about it! I'm a teacher and we have to take our kids outside for half an hour each day, but today we didn't even make it for 10 min! The kids were miserable and complaining, and I was too. SO. HOT.

We also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And HOPE does not dissappoint.
