Anyone's baby still waking up 3+ times a night?

It doesn't matter what I try. Different feeding time, swaddling, the johnsons bedtime lotion, wedging her in with rolled up towels, warmer room, cooler room, every freaking trick in the book, I swear I've tried it. She still wakes up several times a night rolling over and kicking. I'm exhausted. And since I'm pregnant now, and the exhaustion is kicking in more, I'm so frustrated. Someone please tell me its going to end soon and she'll start sleeping through the night!

  • L has been in and out of that depending on how hydrated I am during the day (we BF) and how hot it is.  I turn down the temp at night some nights because otherwise she'll wake up too often from being sweaty.  L's usual is 2x per night.  That's tolerable.  Can you have H help you at night sometimes?

Lena was a great sleeper until she got really good at rolling onto her belly. I put her to sleep on her back, but she rolls herself over immediately and nuzzles her face on the sheet and falls asleep. At first, I kept rolling her back over and if I got up during the night, I'd roll her back to her back. I finally gave up and she's slept til 9am the past 2 mornings! I've also found that she sleeps better when I turn the AC way down. I like it freezing when I sleep, but I'd been setting it at 68 so she wouldn't freeze. Last night, I accidentally left it set at 60* and she didn't wake up once!

GL! I can't imagine having pregnancy tiredness on top of waking up with a baby tiredness! You deserve a medal! (and a baby that STTN!). Can DH get up with her, or is he like mine- only wakes up if she is in full on wail mode?

  • Logan is a 3+ times a night still. I got lucky the past couple nights and I just had to nuk him and he went back to sleep. Usually he is full on awake and won't go back to sleep until I give him a bottle.

I wish I had some advice for you that would make things better but I have none. I would definitely ask H to give you a hand, you have a new baby cooking and you need some rest! Even if he just did one night to let you catch up on some sleep it will make you feel a little better.

  • I'm there with you, too!  Gus has never come close to sleeping through the night since he was born.  Plus, we went on vacation for 2 weeks and he was up every 2 hours the entire time - exhausting!!  Luckily, the last three nights he's given me a 5 hour stretch (for the first time ever!) so I'm hoping it's a trend.  Something tells me he'll be up all night tonight for me writing that :)

  • I know some people don't like it, but we read and then did the Ferber method (actually our Pedi recommended that we try it).  We went from waking up two or three times a night to sleeping through the night.  We did it a lot slower than the book recommends, but the end result has been the same.  It was exhausting when we started it (I was pregnant then, too) but there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

  • Lately, yes. But it seems like once each night, he wakes up simply because he's peed so much that his diaper is saturated. We're going to try overnights and see if that makes a difference.

  • Ty did this, but now we go down at 8, he wakes up around midnight, we feed him, the next time he wakes, we let him CIO (no longer than 10 minutes) and he usually falls back to sleep and doesnt wake up until 6:30am. A little bit of sleept raining required but it has made a world of difference. We will not let him vry longer than 10 min. though.

  • I'm right there with you too.  Last night Auds went to sleep at 8, up at 9, 10:30, 11, and midnight before I finally gave in and brought her to bed with us.  She woke up 4 more times between midnight and 7 am, but at least I didn't have to get out of bed.  Last night was a terrible night.

In the past few weeks, she's been better than last night...usually only waking 3 times.  The first time we haven't gone to sleep yet, the 2nd DH gets up and feeds her a bottle, and the 3rd I get up and nurse.  So it's manageable.

I'm toying with the idea of Ferber, but the one time we let her cry for 5 minutes, she was sobbing so hard that she couldn't calm down even nursing.  Her whole body was wracking with sobs while she was nursing.  I felt so awful.  So I don't think we're going to go there yet.
