Anyone else feel like they're winging it every day?

I know my DS is too young for a "schedule" but I thought by now we would have some sort of routine going. WRONG. My LO does not wake up, nap or eat at consistent times/intervals. Every day I wake up with great ideas for a structured day but it all goes out the window at 10am when he is so fussy that I just start throwing all my mommy tools at him....walking, bouncing, paci, feeding, singing, tubby.....hoping eventually something works.

I kinda feel like every day is a huge experiment that I have no control over :(

    Yup me too.  Then again don't know about you but I'm a first time mum and so I am winging it.  Just got to keep flapping and we'll figure they are either for flying or swimming.  We'll figure our LO's out soon enough...  then it will change. *Sigh*

    Yep. I am starting to see some regularity in her nap time, but that's about it. Every night is another adventure in sleeplessness, and even during the day, her fussy time/happy time varies. Just doing what I can to get by and keep her content.

    If that's "winging it" then we're on the same boat! I know a friend of ours does not agree to this but we let her lead, ie feed her when she shows hunger cues. During day though, she's sorta predictable to get hungry every 2 to 3 hours. I think it's okay that everyday is an "experiment" because they are so young, not to mention can't vocalize what they want/need :D

    YES!!!! I am such a structured person and I couldn't sleep last night thinking about how I was going to get my LO to take naps. Well the day didn't go as I planned! Anyway the only for sure in my house is she will eat every 3-4 hours during the day and she has been sleeping 5-6 at night,so hopefully that stays the same. Oh I wasn't going to give her the paci today...HA

    Right there with ya!!  Eating every 2-3 hrs is the only consistant thing. Everything else just happens. What an exhausting adventure!!

    I totally wing it everyday; we have absolutely no schedule! :) Just when I think I notice a pattern with DD, she throws me for a loop. We had a great weekend of feeding/waking every 3-4 hours during the night and then last night she reverted back to every 2 hours and she cluster fed several times every hour today. I was so excited about the longer intervals. Hopefully today was a fluke or a growth spurt. Who knows!

    yep...definitely winging it right now!  Example:  Last 2 nights I had devil child on my hands...tonight, I thought for sure I'd have the same since she's slept most of the day...nope...she's asleep again!  I mean most days she is getting kind of consistent with her routine...but when I count on it, not going to happen!

    Love this line, it's exactly how I feel.  Sometimes I feel confident I know what's bothering LO other times I'm crying with her.

    I don't mind going off her cues and not having a structured day but I hate when I have no clue what she wants/needs. It breaks my heart and I get so frustrated when evenings just become change her- feed her- read to her- try to play- try to soothe- change her, etc all while she's fussy and unhappy. It's hard not being able to give her whatever it is she's looking for and it gets upsetting!
