  Just found this....but I am still curious about your knowledge on the subject!

  What day should you get your hCG?
  hCG can only mature eggs that have been growing for enough time for the follicle to become large. The sizes of all of the follicles need to be taken into consideration before giving hCG in IVF cycle.

  Not all of the follicles grow at the same rate. For example, if there are 10 follicles, and the biggest is 18mm, they will not all be 18 mm. Some will be mid-sized and some will be much smaller. Each follicle does not need to be 18 mm to produce an egg that is mature. As long as the biggest (the lead follicle) is 17-18mm, the mid-sized (13-16) should also have mature eggs. The small follicles (10-12) may or not be mature. But if the lead follicle is 14 mm, none of the eggs have yet reached maturity. Giving hCG would not be enough to achieve maturity.

  A follicle could actually be empty as well. My RE said that happens sometimes when they go in for retrieval and get way less number of eggs than follicles. There's no guarantee there's an egg in there unfortunately.

  Don't know that answer-but found the info you posted to be fascinating.  Thanks for posting.

  TTC since 10/09 Me-43 DH-44 RE and testing 10/10-11/10, Recommending IVF 1/11 New RE AMA and DOR-DH low motility IVF #1.1 cancelled 3/11 due to poor response IVF #1.2 May 2011, one perfect 8-cell embryo, 3dt-BFN, IVF #2.1 Converted to IUI d/t poor response. New RE 9/2011. IVF 2.2 completed using HGH,EPP,DHEA, Q-10 and accupuncture. Transferred one 8-cell, grade one embryo on 10/19. BFP 10/31/11 Chemical pregancy on 11/2/11. Started stims for IVF #3, our final try, on 12-2-11. ET on 12/18. Transferred 3 Grade A embryos-BFFN Planning DE IVF, late March/early April- Donors ER expected to be 4/2-4/4. PAIF/SAIF welcome
