How do you put LO down for naps?

I try and try so hard to get her to go down in her crib, I wait for drowsy signs and she screams as soon as I put her down. I wait until she's fully asleep and she wakes up 5 minutes later. The only decent nap is on me. I need 2 hands during the day! How do you do it?

At her first signs of being tired, I make sure she has a dry diaper and then I swaddle her. Then I'll rock her for awhile in the glider and nurse her, if she wants. Once I see her eyelids getting heavy, I put her down in her bassinet and turn on her Sleep Sheep (rain on full volume). If she is still fairly alert I will pat her back (she sleeps on her side) and "shhhh" til she is close to asleep. Sometimes a few sucks on the paci (I have to hold it in) will also help.

We put LO in his swing or bouncy seat for naps. I used to try to put him in his crib for his naps but decided that I wanted him to differentiate between naps and nighttime sleeping so that is why we put him in his chair or swing. The crib NEVER worked for us during the day so I'm glad we made the switch.

As far as putting him down, I wait for him to look sleepy and then we get a clean diaper on. Then we do a bottle and he'll take anywhere from 2-4 ounces. He's usually mostly sleeping by the time we finish the bottle, so then we burp and rock a little and he's out!

I wait to see signs of being sleepy and then I will change, swaddle and last make sure she is not hungry. If she is hungry, she usually will get even more drowsy after she eats, thats why I try to do the other two first. Then I just put her in her crib and offer the paci if she wants it. Sometimes she does, sometimes she doesn't. I try to make her room as dark as possible and I also have a radio on very low for her(she sleeps with it at night as well.)

I have the same problem! And no matter what I do to put him down on the pack n' play it seems that he wakes up after only 5 or 10 min! but I've noticed that of I put him on his tummy he'll nap longer. the only thing is I have to constantly watch him because I'm paranoid, so much for doing things around the house!

I just wanted to add that we put our little guy to sleep on his belly (for several reasons- pediatrician is supportive) - and we use the Snuza sleep monitor by Halo to give us peace of mind- it monitors breathing/movements and will alarm if movements are too infrequent. Worth checking out.

During the day, he'll nap for several hours at a stretch in his swing, especially if it's set to vibrate rather than rock, so we just do that.

When my little guy starts sounding grumpy (cute cooing turns into whining) and his eyes look a little red I start to walk him around the house and hum a little song. Then lay him down in his crib, swaddle him and pop the paci in. I usually have to replace the paci a few times but he falls alsleep within about 10 mins. He won't nurse to sleep or else I'd be all over that. My first one I'd lay down and nurse and then just roll out of bed and he'd nap in my bed.

S has his first morning nap in his bouncy seat everyday. It's the only part of our day that's 'routine'.

She gets fussy and I will nurse her a bit and then I put her in her swing. Sometimes she immediately falls asleep or sometimes she looks at the mobile and what not for awhile. If she is ready to nap she will eventually fall asleep in the swing. Most days I just leave her in the swing for her nap. Otherwise I give her about 10-15 minutes in it and then move her to our room. However, if the grandmas are around they have her nap on them. I stopped having her nap on me unless she is having a super fussy day because she doesnt seem to get comfortable on me (moves around and around) and wakes up more often. I blame the super powers of the boobs.
