DD's name is Lucia. It took is forever to pick it out. I have always liked Isabella but since everyone is named Bella now a days we had to pick another.
I loved Anastasia but my DH said she would sound like a Russian princess so that was out.
I loved Ximena but DH said no one would be able to say it in English and having an X in a name was too was weird.
I loved Juliana but not the way it sounds in English.
then we both liked Liliana but it seemed a bit popular.
We had a HORRIBLE time agreeing on a name. I absolutely loved the names Asher and Levi. DH refused. Every name I picked DH said is pretentious. Logan was probably my 20th choice, but the only name we could agree on. James is after my dad, so there was no debate on that one.
I like it now and it fits him, but I get a tiny bit pissed off every time I hear another kid named Logan since I really wanted a less common name. There's even another bumpie with a son named Logan James.
we wanted something that was in the family and had nicknames that could grow w/ her. rosalind is h's late mother's name w/ the nicknames rosie (for a kid) and rose (adult). her other 2 names honor my mom and my late paternal grandmother.
Love - a wildly misunderstood although highly desirable malfunction of the heart which weakens the brain, causes the eyes to sparkle, cheeks to glow, blood pressure to rise and the lips to pucker - Author Unknown
With DD, my 1st choice was Emerson Kate. DH would not budge on it, because he said we weren't naming our child after an appliance company.
My 2nd choice was Addison. DH's 1st choice was Jane. So, we decided on Addison Jane.
With DS, we have known since we starting dating that any future son would be named Ryne. My husband informed me of this while we were dating, and I knew I wouldn't change his mind. So, DS's name is Ryne Joseph.
I have a feeling that my DH is coming around to Emerson. So, any future kids will be either Emerson Kate (or Marissa) or Kian Matthew.
DS name is Gabriel. It was our first choice for a boy, and really only choice for a boy.
Angels have a special meaning to me, as they were the last gift my father gave me before passing away (7 figurines). So naming DS after the Archangel seemed fitting, but it also gave DS a very powerful name as well.
Gage: If we had a different last name, I'm sure I would have chosen a name that ended in the "en" sound. I have always loved Logan, Tristan and the like. But our last name sounds like "Hogan". So "Logan Hogan" - definitely out.
We each had heard Gage in different places, it made both of our top 5 lists, so it was a really easy decision. But DH had the final say on the 1st name.
Gregory: Gage's middle name was almost "Alexander", because it sounds awesome with Gage IMO. But our last name begins with a G so everyone kept commenting to me that his initials would spell GAG. I didn't care at first, but eventually the comments swayed my opinion. Then my favorite uncle, Greg, passed away a couple of months before I gave birth, and on top of that my son wound up being born on his birthday! So giving him Gregory as a middle name was a given at that point.
I really love the way it sounds now - even moreso than Alexander. I think it has a wonderful flow and I love that it has special meaning to my family. My son was kind of the light at the end of the tunnel that was my uncle's long illness, and they are always commenting how Gage reminds them of Greg. I love that.
With my son, we were team green. Our first choice for a boy was Jack, but my sister named her son that and we didn't want them to have the same name. We really liked Eli, actually for either a boy or a girl, so that is what we went with
With our daughter, we were team green again. Our first choice for a girl's name was Alexis, which is what we went with. Good thing we had a girl, because it took us forever to agree on a boy's name--Finn--it was like 10th on each of our lists.

My sons name is William Robert but we call him Liam.
All the names I wanted didnt go with our last name. DH was no help what so ever. We agreed 100 percent on Marlee Rae as a girls name but couldnt narrow down the boys names. We finally had William and Liam but just could not decide. I saw on tv that someone named their kid Christopher but called him Topher and I realized that Liam is the last half of William. So we went with William and Robert is DH's dads name and decided to call him Liam for short. I regret not just naming him Liam.
We already have 3 or 4 boy and girl names picked out for our next kid.
We were team green and I thought for sure I was having a girl - quite surprised at the delivery.
Joseph is after my grandfather. DH's last name is very Italian and my background is Irish so I wanted an Irish sounding name. Connor was my first choice but DH didn't like it. He suggested Ryan and I loved the way it sounded with Joseph. My sister has since had a baby and named him Connor so we still get to have a Connor in the family.
We loved Ashley in the beginning, but we wanted something very short since our last name is so long. We loved Emma instantly after we "discovered" it, but we're disappointed to find out how popular it is... We loved it too much though. We like that it's short, traditional, yet still trendy now, and easy to spell. Lynne is my middle name and all of our kiddos will have either DH or I's middle name.
Our boy name was Jack Mitchell. We've liked this name forever and it will still be our boy name if we ever have a boy. Other names that we like are Abby and Cody. Now I like the idea of sticking with 4-letter names for all the kids (though there probably will only be 2).

DD1 is Ashley Violette. I REALLY wanted to name her Madeline Izabella (initials would be MIA) but DH hated that. It took forever to agree. I really liked Violette because it sounds sweet, southern and clean. My father's favorite color was purple (he passed away 6 months before our wedding) & I felt it really important that her name represent him in some way. Also, MIL's middle name is Iris so DD1's middle name represents both my dad and DH's mom. I finally told DH that I wasn't going to have the baby until he helped me find a 1st name. He blurted out Ashley one day and I loved that her initials would be AVA. It was settled. Ashley Violette A.
DD2 is Zoie Scott. I was sitting on the couch one day about a week after realizing we were PG again and it all of a sudden slapped me in the face out of nowhere....Zoie. It was such an unreal moment because I wasn't even thinking about the baby & it hit me like a big wave in the ocean. I looked at DH and said Zoie! He looked a little stunned because I caught him off guard but he liked it to. We decided on Zoie before we even knew she was a girl. Scott is my maiden name and again, it's in honor of my dad who was my very best friend in this whole world. Zoie Scott A....we call her Z.
DS1's name is Ryker. We took forever picking a name that he nearly became Richard Jr/II. I didnt want to go the junior route and found that Ryker is the German surname version of Richard and therefore was my compromise when I feel in love with the name...a week before he arrived via emergency c-section because I had Pre-E and HELLP Syndrome.
DS2's name is Maximilian (Max). I love the name Max. I have trouble commiting to the full Maximilian though. It was DH's number choice and since he really didnt get his say in naming DS1 I let him have it and Maximilian has grown on me. My top name choice had been Merrick before I let my DH's name choice prevail. (Oh and his name was chosen within 3 weeks of the anatomy scan and finding out we were having another boy).
DS is Carter Lance. Carter because I just love it and could convince my hubby he liked it too because it is the last name of former Flyer Jeff Carter. If I can related anything back to the Flyers..it's a go in my household! LOL! Lance is my MILs maiden name and I thought is sounded great with Carter and would be a nice gesture.
If Carter had been a girl, the name we had picked out was Gillian Grayce. Gillian because I like the name and it's not too popular and not weird. Need a more unique name to go with Carter. Grayce spelled that way because my maiden name is Gray and I have no male relatives to carry on the family name. I love the name Grace too, so it works out nicely.
If we get lucky with number 2, she will likely be Gillian/Jillian (I'm waffling on the spelling now) and if it's a boy, we have no idea what we'll name him (although I love Liam and Brayden). My hubby likes awful names, so it will be quite a process to find another boys name we both like.

Emma- We picked out that name a few months after finding out it we loved it. We knew it was common but we just knew she was a Emma. We also have our next childs name picked out.

DD1 is Calista. Always loved the name. I think it's beautiful and unique.
DD2 is Soleil. Again another beautiful and unique name. Both were our first choices for each child. I was lucky in that DH let me pick out the names and liked them just as much as I did.
Calista is on my girl list too. We had Calista Mae as one of our choices if DS would have been a girl.
DS is Coleson. We went back and forth between Cole and Coleson for a long time. We originally liked the name Drew and still may use it if we have another boy.
DD1: Anneliese. It was out first choice. We picked it because we thought it sounded nice, and it's after DH's grandmothers- Anne and Elsie.
DD2: Hazel. It was our second choice- Mallory was DH's first choice and Rosemary was my first choice. When we saw her on the ultrasound though we both knew she was a Hazel. We just liked the name- no particular meaning or significance.
DD is Kaylynn Marie. It is all of our mothers middle names put together. So she is names after her grandmothers. Kind of trendy with all of the K's and the Y's going on these days but we love it. And it fits her perfectly.
Kay= My mothers middle name
Lynn= DH mothers middle name
Marie= My Step Mothers middle name (we are super close)
DS 1: Brady Rolon (aka Brady bug). Brady was our first choice and Rolon is a family name on my DH's side.
DS 2: Nolan Reid. Nolan was a name we both liked, and Trevor was also a top contender. My first choice was Reid for a FN but DH liked it better as a MN. Therefore we got Nolan Reid.
This is fun! DD's name is Brylynn Lathell. (pronounce: Br "I" lynn) My first choice was Brynleigh Praise since I was conveince from the day i found out I was pregnant that she was a girl. Well one day I asked DH about Bryleigh and he mispronounced it later Brylynn. I loved it because both my parents middle names are Lynn and she could have a family name. Her middle name is my middle name.
This is funny to me! I have a Kaylynn and my cousins baby girl is Brynlee (which she got from me, we didnt use it off our short list and we love it). Similar naming styles I guess!
We were team green, and were pretty set on a boys name, but were up in the air on the girls name (Dh thought it was a girl, I wasn't so convinced because everybody under the sun said it looked like I was carrying a boy, so I was determined to get the boys name figured out)
We were torn between Abigail, Madison, and Morgan. The middle name for the two M names were Isabell (our last name starts with an "A" we would have called her Mia, since we already have a Maddie in the family).
After dd came out, she didn't look like a Madison or Morgan, at all to us, so Abigail Marie it was! Yes, its a common name. DH has a common first name, mine isn't as common, but my maiden name is incredibly common, so we were ok with a common first name.
we had a horrible time. We had names picked out years before we were pregnant, just one boy and one girl name...and right before we found out we were having a boy, DH said he did not like our boy choice....jackson, which we wanted way before it was popular.
It was a struggle finding the boy name, cause the girl always came easy, and he still liked our choice, so when we found out it was a boy.....i was upset cause i didn't want to keep arguing. So, i gave him Noah and Mason to choose from, his dad wanted mason, and since im not a fan of him, i pushed for noah and well, DS looks like a Noah. J is DH middle 'name' along with his dad and brother.
My DS is Declan Patrick Joseph F_____ (two middle names)
I have loved Declan for a very long time, but my husband wasn't a huge fan of it. He really like Patrick, but I don't like the nickname "pat" which his name would have certainly been shortened too at some point.
One day at iHop, my DH said that we could name our son Declan, if we could use Patrick Joseph as a middle name. Patrick, because he likes it, and Joseph, for his grandma Jo Ann.
For any future kids, I love Emerson and Maeve for a girl. For a boy, I like Grayson.
DD is Kaylynn Marie. It is all of our mothers middle names put together. So she is names after her grandmothers. Kind of trendy with all of the K's and the Y's going on these days but we love it. And it fits her perfectly.
Kay= My mothers middle name
Lynn= DH mothers middle name
Marie= My Step Mothers middle name (we are super close)
I know a little girl with this exact name. The grandma's name is Kay, the other grandma's name (or middle name) is Lynn, and the mom's middle name is Marie.
I always said that if I had a daughter that I would name her Selah Joy. However, once we found out we were expecting a girl, Selah just did not seem right. I liked Lucia in Italian (Lu-chee-ah), but DH did not like that. When we started saying it in Spanish, Lu-see-ah, we fell in love with it. I still loved the middle name Joy, but it took a while to get DH on board, but once he did we loved the sound of Lucia Joy. It is perfectly fitting for her too.
Our first baby girl, Lucia Joy, joined us on April 1, 2010!
DS is Cedric Donovan and we love it. It was our first choice. Of course I made a list then knocked off any from the soc list that was top 100 names. So then from that list we picked Cedric. Donovan was our second choice.

i like your style!
DD is maeve elizabeth... and i fought long and hard for it! my first choice was niamh ( neve) but DH said absolutely not... maeve was a tough battle, but it is perfect for her - someone on both sides has Elizabeth as a MN so that was easy -
DS is patrick ford -- this was SO much harder, he didnt have a name until the cord blood ppl came and we HAD to fill out a name on the form!
we thought for a while he would be Ben, but someone we knew had a baby a month before and used Ben so that was out... i really liked Declan Patrick - but my DH (again!) wasnt on board. we went with Patrick which is also my dad's name and assumed that he would be Pat right away... 15 months later he is most definitely Patrick not Pat...

finally we came up with Lucia!

Logan James.

Mason is my DS's name. Yes it was my first choice. I liked it because his name means working with stone and my name means rocks in greek.
Bennett Michael
We were Team Green and went in with two names per gender. Half way through my labor we narrowed it down to one of each. Michael is after my Dad.
I love that his name is not too common, easy to pronounce, and can grow with him.
With DD, my 1st choice was Emerson Kate. DH would not budge on it, because he said we weren't naming our child after an appliance company.
My 2nd choice was Addison. DH's 1st choice was Jane. So, we decided on Addison Jane.

We knew long before we ever got pregnant that our first born son would be named after DH.
Preston: No, it was not my first choice, I wanted Lincoln at first, but we finally agreed with Preston right after he was born.
Harrison: Our choices were Ashton and Greyson, but after he was born, we decided on Harrison.
I LOVE their names and would not change them for anything.
Calista is on my girl list too. We had Calista Mae as one of our choices if DS would have been a girl.
