I put SS because we don't use bumpers at home, but the ILs bought a crib at thier house and I installed regular bumpers there because DD kept sticking limbs through the slats and banging her head on the side of the crib. However, she's slept in that crib 3 nights total.
We're using the breathable bumpers. One of the great things about them is they collapse when the babies try to climb on them. I'd keep that point in mind when deciding whether or not to put the decorative bumpers back on.

She still sleeps in her PnP but in her own room. So the sides of that r like breathable bumpers, but I have regular bumpers on her crib and when she starts sleeping in there I won't be worried about them
He kept getting his chubby thighs stuck in the slats so we put the bumpers on. He wa waking up SCREAMING because he was stuck and has slept so much better since.

I don't see real bumpers being a problem at this point. My DS would be fine with them. I didn't use any bumper at all for DS1 and I'm not for DS2 either. I was worried about them in the beginning and just choose not to now... he's fine without them. Do what makes you most comfortable.
I switched out the regular bumpers for breathable ones because I swear it was hotter in the crib than in the rest of the room. I had a fan blowing to move the air, but the regular bumpers blocked the air flow at mattress level. So, for the warm months anyway, we switched to the breathable ones.
Last night I made some bumper-type things for A's crib. His trouble is that he gets his legs stuck through the bars so I took two layers of the fabric from his nursery and quilted it with some very very thin batting so that it will hopefully prevent his arms and legs from popping through the crib slats and will collapse if he tried to climb on it. I started it after he went to bed last night and have to finish a couple of things so ideally we'll have it on his bed tonight to try out!

We use regular ones and always have. They block the light from his nightlight from getting in his eyes and keep him from smacking his face on the bars when he rolls around like a crazy person.
Once he gets off his lazy bum and starts trying to climb out, then we'll probably remove them.
"I wanted you more than you'll ever know, so I sent love to follow wherever you go."
we use breathable and they don't really work. He still gets caught and he still bangs his head against the slats. So no bumpers would probably have the same effect! We probably wouldn't be against regular bumpers at this point but we're too lazy to switch...and maybe I am a little nervous.
We use breatheable bumpers. I think they're a bit too flimsy for her to try to stand on to launch herself out of the crib, so I'm keeping them in for now. I'd be a little worried about the regular bumpers, though, for that reason (using them as a "boost" to climb out of the crib).
We started out with no bumpers, then put in breathable ones when DS started getting mobile enough so that he could push his binky out. The breathable bumpers don't do anything to keep him from banging his head, but they do keep the binky inside the crib. I'd have had no problem using regular bumpers, but I couldn't find any I liked back when I was decorating his room....and at this point, he'd just use them as a climbing toy.
We use regular bumpers (obviously from the pic in my thread).
I'm torn about what to do. I could totally see him using them to launch himself out of the crib. And he's already about 30-31 inches tall, so even with the matress on the lowest setting it's gonna be easy for him to try and get out :::sigh:::
But he moves around in the crib so much I don't want his limbs getting stuck or his head being smashed up against the rails.
He hasn't tried standing in the crib at our house yet - but my mom just called me and he stood in the crib at her house when she checked on him after putting him down for his morning nap. She has beathable bumpers on the crib at her house.
