Gripe water measurements

When my Dr told me to get Gripe Water my husband picked up the CVS brand and we followed the directions measuring 1 tsp with the syringe that came with it.

Well when then Gripe Water ran out and my mom picked it up they didnt' have the CVS brand so she got the little tummies brand. Well the syringe goes to 1/2 tsp and measurements for his month (2) is 1 tsp. Well the 1/2 tsp with the Little Tummies Gripe water is more liquid then the 1 tsp I got wit the CVS brand syringe.

It just seems like so much more liquid. I give the gripe water straight to DS in his nipple of the bottle before the bottle and it seems like way more liquid.

AM I losing my mind? lol

Re: Gripe water measurements

  • I always think the exact same thing.  That's a huge 1 tsp., and it seems strange that a 2 mo old baby gets almost two whole syringe fulls...

  • I never give him that much, I always just do the 1 syringe of the LT brand. 2 seems like way too much and the 1 seems to help enough with hiccups, etc.

    This.

I always start with a half-dose (1/2 tsp of LT brand) and that usually does the trick.

  • Maybe that's why they say (on meds) to only use the measuring device that comes with the med? Perhaps 1 tsp to one brand is different to another brand?? Scary! The Colic Calm Facebook wall (Colic Calm is the gripe water I used) is a good place to ask--they always answer back really fast:
